I am about to have a spoiler installed on my 97 GXE Maxima. I seeing somewhere some instructions on how to disconnect and remove the third brakelight in the rear window without leaving a hole. If anyone has this information or could instruct me in doing so, i would appreciate it.

One way to remove it is to get T-boned at high speed and complete a 360 down the other side of the road. That sure knocked my third brake light off. Soon after I got the car back from the body shop, I had a wing installed and I removed the 3rd brake light. It's easy. It just slides off sideways and then you disconnect the wiring harness. You can do all kinds of things to cover the hole. Get a stock speaker grill and mount over it. Or cut a thin piece of plastic or wood and cover it with matching carpet or vinyl. Or spend the money to get the factory piece from a dealership.

haha...$180...what a rip off..my suggestion...rent a maxima...switch out all the parts you need, install your 3rd brake light and replace the rear decks plus what ever other parts you might need....How is that for an idea? or you can even buy a rear deck from a junk yard for abour $30-40 i would guess. However, i'm taking a different route. As soon as i have my spoiler installed/painted i will make my own rear deck with no holes in it period...it wont rattle and sure as hell wont let any noise from the trunk get through...
