is 10,000 for a 98 with 80k on it to much?

Sounds alright I guess, I would also try to bring it down a bit though. Any more details on the car/owner?

Yeah, 80k is alot for a '98, but I wouldn't worry too much about problems though you should pull up any service records and also have it checked out by a mechanic. Also, if you plan on trading the 3rd gen in, get the dealer to the absolute lowest price possible and THEN tell him you got a trade in. If he asks about the car first tell him your thinking about selling it privatly, then change your mind later.

I'm not sure how you're goin to find out this... because the owner could just lie... but if its highway miles, it's actually good for the car, but if its street miles it's bad. I bought a 96SE w/ 135k miles on it and it had full nissan service at every recommended mileage. Then again, i bought this car from my cousin for $6k so i didn't care about the mileage
