Why is my Maxima SOOO slow ??

Ok now that I have my clutch the thing shifts perfect but its still slow...It feels faster but its probably in my head...I have CAI/Y-pipe and my buddy has a K/N filter and a unifersal muffler and were both 5spd and we raced last night to see how much I pull on him..I had a bad launch and we were even through the ENTIRE race DEAD even with him pulling ever so slowly...there is something DEFINETLY wrong with my non-maxima..Ive been driving 5spd longer than him but I do have a new clutch but its not that different, it does grab alot better than my old one..I did change the fuel filter and I checked the MIL today and nothing came over...The spark plugs may need to be changed, will they make a big differnce if there bad >? I NEED HELP>>>IM ****ED before I did my clutch he only had a K/N and I had CAI and y-pipe and we were even ??? WTF

please help

Does he also have 17" rims. This is propably only a small part of your problem but if your rims are a lot heavier then his it could play a big part.
Good Luck,
Paul

It could be the rims , but it also could be the driver... If you think your car is faster then his, but you stay dead even.... then try switching cars.. When he is in your car and he can make it pull...then nothing is wrong with your car, you just need to learn to drive it better....if the race stays dead even agian..then accept the fact his car is just as fast as yours... there both maximas.. with only 1 mod, the race should be really close eather way ...

Just my 2 cents

Very tru Pervis, we all should be happy with what we have, and remember sombody out there may have it worse, or slower, or hell not even a maxima

All this is just speculation. Weight differences can play a major roll, as can the general condition of the engine. I was running faster stock than many fully modded 5 speeds run.

Your engine might not be in the best shape, say you are 10 hp down from where you "should" be. Also say your friend's car is 150 lbs lighter than yours. A combination of factors such as these could explain why you two are dead even, even though you have more mods.
