new tires.......

ok ii nedded some new tires so i decided to order some yokohama tires...i also decided to stick with the saemtire size, which is 235/45/17..i got my new tires last night and when i stacked them up next to my old tires and then i found out that the stack of new tires is about 2 inches taller than my stack of old tires......does this mean my tires will stick out at all??

My friend put 225/55/16 and the side walls were a little "fatter" but they are also taller, which got rid of our fugly wheel gap but you probably don't have that problem with 17" wheels.

Same size, but they are different?
Is that the "Grandmother symptom" they get shorter as they get older?
