Hi again guys. A lot of you may recall I posted a message last week about buying my first ever car, a 1997 Max GXE. Now, after 4 full days of ownership, I can tell you I am in love with the beast. What incredible power, smooth delivery, effortless ability to achieve speed.
But the handling sucks, and I'm kind of afraid of it.
The car is way too light on its feet. The steering is too sensitive, there is an absurd amount of body roll, and I don't feel safe driving like my aggresive self in this car. My mothers Corolla and my fathers Sentra (especially the sentra, base model) feel MUCH MUCH better than the max.
So my question is, what do I need to do? I don't know jack about cars, but I know I'm gonna kill myself in this one if I don't fix it to suit my driving style.
New (larger) wheels tires? Springs and Shocks? HELP!!!!!

Wider tires (I like to use 225 on stock wheels), Front strut bar, some good lowering springs ( AGX and Sprint ) Originally posted by Big Kyle

Kyle, I replaced my tires (still on stock 15's) and my GXE handles 10 times better now. I have no suspension mods yet.

Before you lower it, consider upgrading the struts and rear shocks to the KYB AGX's or the KYB GR2's. They both offer a very sporty firm yet smooth ride. Also put the Addco Rear Stabalizer on to get rid of that body roll.
Leaving your stock springs on while upgrading your front struts and rear shocks reviels the best of both worlds, awsome handling and a very comfy ride!
Do get yourself some nice 17" wheels and tires.
