Just crusing down the strip and this guy in a new mustang (non GT, but a modded V8)pulled up on the side at a light. He looks over and said "aww how cute, he driving his momma's car!" the son-of-a-b itch! so he reved and then i did, and the light turned green. He screeched a bit and left, took me by a car by 30 and the by 55 i started walkin him, and by 70 i was a 1/2 car ahead and never turned back from then! so yes, even momma can drive a fast car.

Now when it comes to a Cobra or Saleen, that's a different story. Half the reason I like my car is the "sleeper factor".

 

I love that feeling. My friend's ex kept telling her how he would kill my family sedan in his super fast 97 v6 Mustang I found him on the road one day and totally demolished him.

 

A v6 stang is garbage.Them stangs v6 run like 18.0's in the 1/4.I remember one time at the track same thing happened.But this guy was was a stock 2002 gt stang 5 spd.He told me why do us ricers watse our time on cars that aint fast to begin with.I was like okay.Little did he know I run consistent 13.7's @104,105mph.But the helmet I had in my car got him thinking.So we lined up so that I made sure I'll race him.I did and off the line we were head to head.Then when I threw that baby into second bye bye MOTHER F##KER.I got him like four car lenths.He ran a 14.56@96 and I ran 13.8 @ 105MPH.(WHEN WE FINISH AND PICK UP OUR SLIPS HE WAS LIKE NAH I MESSED UP!LMAO).IM LIKE"Its okay I understand were you "fast to begin with guys"are coming from"I love my max.

GT's are like 260 hp buddy .. you would get dogged.

 

Not all GTs are 260 some are 235 like 99 under. I know my 95se 5speed can beat one of them. I also have a Supra 1987na 5 speed its a low 15 sec car not quite as fast as the 95. It would beat the 95 to about 40 but 2nd and 3rd arent as good. Anyway Ive beaten sevreral 4.6s in my supra so I know my 95 can. In my 2k2 i raced a friends modded 94 5.0 he had a standard with pulleys headers, exhaust, a chip and some other crap. I pulled on him every time from a go. I raced him off the line he jumps 2 car lengths before I get to even 20. Did I mention he had monsterous slicks in the back. Point of the story Maximas can beat GTs quite easily. V6 stangs are a joke. Which brings me to this time I raced a modded V6 in the 2k2 from a stop. By 90mph I had over 6 car lengths on him. I even rode in the car felt pretty quick but I mean I ate that POS alive. Quite pathethic he wouldnt believe it was stock.

 

If you can't take a Mustang GT I am sorry. I've never gone against a new one. I should have been more specific about the years. I said the v6 Mustangs were a joke, and they are. The GT is good a good race, I have yet to get beat by one. If you look up the 97 GT numbers you'll see that they are about the same as my car. Anyway, Mustangs have been produced for like almost 40 years, Some years they are fast some years they are not.
I was not trying to sound like my car is the fastest thing on the planet, just this hemisphere. J/K. I'll I know is that a Mustang GT has not beat me before.....Buddy.

Yet, 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and a 14.0-second/100.2-mph quarter-mile run is as good or better than any stock Mustang we've ever tested, Cobra or not. Slalom and skidpad figures closed in on those of the more sophisticated (and expensive!) Cobra at 66.8 mph and 0.86 g, respectively, with the independent rear suspended Cobra turning in 67.8 mph and 0.88 g. Viewed in this way, the SVT superpony seems hardly worth the extra $7000

i hate stangs as well, i hate the look they try to give when they roll up on you at a line, calling us ricers, ricers don't have an engine to start with, it's just fun to make them look like shmucks when they're "loud muscle car" get's walked by a "ricer".....kudos of making him bite his tongue

 

Read my post again. Your talking about a 99 and I am talking about a 97. Compare apples to apples. That is like comparing a 3rd gen to a 4th gen Max. I never said I beat a new stang. I was heading down I-635 toward the DFW airport when some dude in a 2001 Mustang GT decided to race me. I was in the middle lane and he came up on my left. He took me by surprise so he had 1/2 car length on me. I was around 105 and quickly started pulling him in. I was getting closer and closer but broke off since traffic was building up. I would have definetly walked passed him had we not encountered traffic. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was reeling in this GT. By the way, was this a V8? I have a Frankencar intake, and Greddy exhaust.

after seeing all the mustangs recently at the brockton street races, i wont ever mock a V8 stang again. i dont think many of you can beat one, and if you are an auto (like me), there is no way in hell. even the old body styles are pretty damn quick. i love my car, but its definatly not a sports car or drag-racer.

 

A modded 5sp can handle up to a 98 GT (correct me if I am wrong) they added the additional HP to the Mustang in 99. I raced a 98 modded GT we were dead even until I hit third................okbuh That was the best run I have ever had. But in either case mommy's car handled the business.

You automatically assume I ment the newest and the fastest one's. When the new gen GT Stangs came out they were NOT fast for like 3 or 4 years. YOU KNOW THAT, thats why you refuse to talk about the ones before 99.
No One in a 5spd 4th gen Max should be scared of a stock 95-98 Mustang GT. That is a fact wheather you accept it or not.

I don't doubt it. I raced a late model Trans Am WS6, and killed him every time from light to light.

I'm not saying that my car is faster, because he should have smoked me bad! He had a very hard time launching the car. He was 100% wheelspin off the line, every time. He passed me at about 100mph on the last race (3rd gear requires no skill , but up until that I was far ahead.

I've found that there are a lot of people who buy these powerful sports cars, and don't know how to drive them. They think that they can just dump the clutch @3krpm when the light changes.

So, if you beat a car that you shouldn't (according to the #s) beat: it's not the car, it's the driver.

dont underestimate a GT by any means, if they are modded a Max is history due to their greater compatibility with mods.

 

well i'm sorry guys, but the 94-98 mustangs i am not scared of in the least bit, i have been to morosso and seen stock from modded ones run from mid 14s to low 16s, it all depends on the driver. A close friend of mine had a 95 GT and he ran about 4 or 5 runs in the 15.5-15.9 range, slower than what most people post here on the org. Sure the 99s have more power and should take a max, but you guys gotta remember not everyone is a good driver.

 

I can relate, my friend has a 89 GT with intake header exh and a slight port polish and its an automatic. Now my is also an auto, all I got is a jwt intake. So one day we were going up a two lane road and he decides to punch it as do I. Needless to say he didnt even pull an inch on me, as a matter of fact i might have even pulled on him a bit. On a different note, a couple of weeks ago heading from a local race spot i see these headlights coming up quick from behind. I pay no attention and just keep driving at a normal speed of 60mph. So then finaly the guy is on my a$$ so I switch lanes so he can go by and its a 94-95 mustang Gt with exh and maybe something else. He then proceeds to pass me looking over and rolls his eyes and im like all right Mr. Big V8 lets play. I catch up to him and I am at about his back bumber, he floors as do I and real in about a half a carlength, now I have 2 extra people in my car including me, so at about 80-90 he starts to pull. Then the light ahead turns red which is where I need to turn to go home and the A$$hole yells IMPORTS SUCK!! In return I yell THATS WHY MY FOUR DOOR V6 JUST KEPT UP WITH YOUR PIECE OF Sh it. I was so mad that this guy just said that. I mean what gives him the right to totaly diss on my ride, for what just cause its an import. Gimme a break. Sorry for venting. Point being mustang GTS arent all that.

Early model GTs all you guys can beat, the new GTs you cant beat unless you have all your bolt ons. But as one posted if they dump the clutch they will sit there and spin. Thats not the case with the newer 270HP mustang which has Traction control, they will get a good headstart, they have lots of Torque and my friend use to own one and I could not beat the son of a Gun and he was completely stock. His best time was consistently 14.5s and 14.6s. This is a Stock New Mustang GT. Mardigrasmax was there and beat him quite a few times. They are nice cars the new ones but whats with the reliability. No wait the insurance bill will be higher then the car payment.
