SE Features... what compared to GXE/GLE
First of all, I can't do a search because it won't let you search for anything less than 3 letters long (SE is only 2 letters)...
Other than these features listed below, what features does the SE have that the GXE does not have?
Body colored door handles
Body colored window trim
Sports cloth seats
White faced gauges
Sports suspension
No brake light in the rear window because of spoiler

Whenever I see pictures, it looks like the SE has a different steering wheel than my GXE. The airbag cover looks different. Is that true with all SE models, or only the ones that have the leather steering wheel?

the reason I'm asking this is I'm trying to make a case against the dealership I bought my car from. They sold me a GXE but said it was the SE... my contract/receipts say its an SE. It has a spoiler, sunroof, Dealer installed fogs, and the SE wheels, but that's about it.

Check the VIN:
TO DECODE THE VIN PLATE:
Raise your hood. Look for a shiny metal identification tag fastened to the passenger side of firewall. The top row is the Vehicle Identification Number, starting with J. The second row is model information. The first five characters are BLHUL. The sixth character is the trim level designator, defined as follows:
E = GXE
G = GLE
V = SE
BTW, this is from the 4th gen faq's near the top of the forum...

Then I'd say maybe you have a case. Did you do a carfax on it, maybe it's a salvage or something?

The SEs do have a different steering wheel cover. Looks much better in my opinion. When my airbags went off, I was lucky enough to get my GLE/GXE cover replaced with an SE cover.

In the 97-99 Maxima the steering wheel is different between the GXE/GLE and the SE.
Here is a pic of a SE steering wheel:
Here is a pic of a GXE/GLE wheel (GLE shown)
Not only are the hubs different, but the wheel itself is different.
SE wheels are all black and leather wrapped regardless of the car seat material. The "Nissan" logo is in the circular recess which is at the center of the airbag. The yellow arrows point to the portion of the steering wheel which has a different textured "perforated" leather, etc
GXE/GLE wheels...well, anyone looking at the above pics should be smart enough to see the differences. The steering wheel color matches the dashboard color. Difference between GXE/GLE wheel: GLEs are leather-wrapped.

GXE/GLE wheel is ugly
I like the SE wheel WAY better. The GXE/GLE wheel looks like it belongs in an Oldsmobile Cutless or something. Since I have a black GXE wheel, do you think it might be possible to order the SE airbag cover from Nissan and install that?

So definitely a salvage, you do have a case because according to the VIN it was a GLE I think you said? However, I wouldn't make too big of deal because if you knew you bought a salvage, anything goes I guess. Yes they still misrepresented you but what are you trying to get out of proving it to them? Are you missing anything in the car you feel you're entitled to? If so, then I would bring the case upon them

But, I would be happy if the Bose system is all I got out of them. I think I might bring it up and see what they say.

Yes. I want the Bose system (which the SE had). I also wouldn't mind if they installed the white gauges

For US models, I believe it was an option (standard on GLE I think), but not sure if you needed leather or not?
