Here's the scoop... on the highway... going home from Hershey Park (amusement park)... I was driving about 75 on a 65... saw this red lude with a hot blonde chic comes up to me and drives side by side... she checks me out... not the car.. the driver ... so i take a look at her.. then her car... i see it's a vtech h22... dam*.. gotta be fast.. don't know if i will win or not... she flies... i got an auto.. so i punch the gas... whoa.. i can't believe how fast my max is.. goin' 100.. kept up with the girl the whole time.. about a mile we went.... if not less.. when i saw her break lights come up... at this time.. i was closer to her before she gunned it... girl got scared after hittin' 100... and turns off the exit... i was amazed i could keep up with a vtech lude... whoa!! anyone tried this..

FYI: I had 4 people in the car (go ZeRo MaX)

97 and up automatic ludes are snails. they die @ 100mph...those shouldnt be a problem...

 

Isn't it VTEC and not VTECH. Also those ludes have no top end compared to maximas stock vs stock.

guys guys guys, please pardon my offensive tone, but I am getting sick of ppl who know nothing about Preludes say stuff like

"Ludes have no high end"
"stock for stock, maxima beats a Lude"

I'm talkin about VTEC ludes here, of course. 2k+ Maxes are well matched with the Lude, but not the 4th gens or the 3rd gens.

And if you kept up with a VTEC lude up to 100 with 4 ppl in your car, I dont know man, are you sure the Lude was VTEC?

I dont consider a 30mph roll up to 70mph a race. Nor is a stoplight drag session. I consider 0-110mph races a good gauge of car's potentials. If you have 4th gen stick and if you race stick prelude, you think you gonna kick ludes a$$? try it.

 

I had VTEC on "POST SUBJECT".. just vtech on the post... a mistake... i'm right... don't worry.. i'm not stupid... lol.. well anyways... I never said I won... I admit her car was really fast.. and i'm sure it was a VTEC... i kept up with her.. didn't win... i know i lose to VTEC ludes.. i got killed my a mod lude.. so I figure a stock vtec lude i might have a chance... but i didn't really wanted to race... cuz it was a fine chic.... gettin' her # be kinda hard if she was the one that wanted to race.. haha... but again.. i wouldn't call it a race either.. cuz we were both at a rolling start... and going through turns and hills... i'll admit defeat if i have to.. but like again.. i said and those who said.. that it wasn't a race.. i wasn't beat... I JUST KEPT UP WITH A VTEC LUDE!

 

Since 4th gens are quicker than 5th gens, sans the 2k2 6spd, I'm not sure how much validity the above statement has.

Depends what speed, I ran neck and neck with a 5th Gen 5speed from a roll (around 30 to 60) I know the VI was not in use yet On a roll from 80 I think things might have been quite different

Some people on this board know NOTHING about the h22. It has mad top end..if your in a N/A max and your racing a lude, you better hope your not racing over 100mph. Learn the facts before you post on here. I'm not a huge honda fan, but I get respect where respect is deserved, and that's for sure with the 2.2 liter VTEC engine in the lude.

the high end is the best on the ludes! if anything they suck off the line because of sh*tty torque. my uncle has a stock 5speed lude, and he got to 144 in it, and from what i can tell it only started pulling harder as it got higher up in speeeds. so if any of you want to race a 5speed prelude, your best bet is off the line, i beat him off the line with my auto max, although when he threw it into second he was gone

First off 95-96 max is about the same if not faster than 00-01 max. Second off all newer preludes are vtec. And if someone says vtech who gives a crap. did you not know what they were talking about? Get off your high horse. Third off vtec does not equal topend. Sure it produces most of its power at the higher rpms but who cares so do most all imports. Did yall ever think about gearing or drag coefficient. THe GSR Integra is faster than the prelude mainly because the prelude is heavy. Damn prelude runs a 7.7 0-60 and like a 15.5-.7 1/4. THe 5 speed maxima will own a prelude to about 120 when 4th gear ends. Sorry, ever driven a prelude? You people are nuts Prelude equals fun sporty car that i wouldnt mind owning, but their 195 horse and no torque engine isnt enough to beat a 4th gen. I wouldnt be surprised if the 92-94 3rd gens in standard couldnt beat up on one. THose were good for mid 15 sec 1/4's too.

 

I raced a 1999 VTEC 5sp Prelude with I/H/E one night from 55-120. Let me tell you I was barely winning from 55-115 then he caught me and won by 1/2 a car to 120. Now if we had kept going I might have caught him because my VTEC kicks back in at 125... but who knows. Those Preludes have mad topend and will walk away from most at high speeds especially when modded.
