Really want a 4th Gen.. Anything to consider?

I am a current 3rd gen auto Maxima owner, and fell in love with Maximas. And to think I was about to buy a 94 accord.. I am ready to part with my 3rd gen and upgrade to a 97 or above Max. I been searching for exactly what I want which is a White or Blue 97 SE 5spd with leather, power everything, sunroof, and climate control with about < 80K miles on it... With a budget around 10 G's, I was wondering if it is possible?? And since you guys are the experts with the 4th Gens, are there any common mechanical, electrical problems with the 97's?? I know 3rd gen autos are prone to tranny problems.. I will have to factor in this when looking for my dream car..

ummm, that one has almost twice the miles he wants...what he wants as specified is going to be difficult...but not impossible with a little shopping around. A '97 especially would be possible...but a loaded '99 under 80K for 10 grand just ain't happenin. Mine was 70K and didn't have leather or ABS, I paid $11,800 and got a bargain. The older the car, the less it's worth, even if miles are the same.

Yeah i hear fully loaded SE 5 speeds are kind of rare. It would probably cost a little more than 10 grand for a 97+, but look around, you never know.

Problems: 5 speed trans bearings, search for more. Oil pressure sending switch, nothing to worry about. Recent recall for alternator, again nothing to worry about.
I agree what you want is hard to find.

I just bought a 97 fully loaded SE five speed leather all that 28,000 miles for $13.8k. Keep an eye out on autotrader, cars.com, this forum, and the newspaper.

I have a 97 that im thinking of selling for $13,400 w/ some nice mods. Check out my profile for pics. The car has 72,000 miles but has been fully serviced. Needs nothing. I replaced A/C compressor, brakes, clutch, etc... I have about $5000 in extras in the car and just bought brand new tires.
