Cigarette lighter cover

I need a replacement cover for the cigarette lighter. Not sure how but mine must have jumped out of the car.

I understand there were essentually two types. One looks like a cigarett lighter, just plain black. The other is a cover. I asked my local Nissan guy to get me one in, but they wanted $8 for it...it is the one that looks like a lighter. Otherwise, they are on back order. They still have the one in stock. I can pick it up for you if you like. Just shoot me your zip code for shipping. Naturally you can check your local Nissan dealer, but I think it typically goes for $9-$12....no way I'd pay that.

Another option is to get the plug that Ford makes for the Mustangs. It is a flat "dead plug" that has the "12v" written on it. I went this route at my local Ford dealer and Cost me about $6 tax and all. Took about 15 minutes for him to find it and said it is not a regular stock item. I'll leave it up to you.

I can provide images if you like, at least of my Ford plug....Sacrilege, I know!

Great info.

I appreciate the offer but if its as simple as a dead plug from ford ill do that... All i need is a cover of some kind to stop debris from getting inside.

Thanks Chris

The cap retails for $4.99 plus tx. Local parts store should have them too.

I had posted on here previously and is why I can speak so certainly. AutoZone and Advance DO NOT have the proper sized plug to fit our cars. Well, maybe if you get one with a skull head or big dice. Not my taste though!

Just be prepared for them to be on back order and for them to take lots of time to find this part and the number....just not a typically sourced item.

Hope you have better luck finding one than I did! Let me know if you find a better deal!

The one from Ford is a flat plug that appears to have two "wings" on the sides for your fingers to just pull it off. If you need pic, let me know.

I opened what they had and it was too small a diameter. I checked 3different stores. All they had was the smaller diameter lighters and plugs like in the old fords and chevy's.

Perhaps it's my area, but please make sure you are posting the availability of the right size. Even the cigarette lighter from my '89 Max (OEM Nissan part) will NOT fit my 2003 Maxima as it is the smaller diameter unit. Simply looking at seeing what looks to be the right part and grabbing the sticker price does not make it "universal" or that it will actually work.

If your local Autozone does have the larger diameter plug, please grab me the part number so I can take it to my local stores and find out why they don't carry it.
