WTS 3" Y-pipe, bolts up to Cattman headers

Location: Greensboro, NC

When I originally had this 3" Y-pipe made, the exhaust shop didn't have the right size of SS piping to make it, so I had it made with aluminized steel since it was a 3+ hour drive and I wasn't going back home without it. It cost me just over 330 dollars in parts and labor. I've just recently had it copied in all SS so now I'm putting it up for sale. The aluminized steel on this piece will probably outlast my car, I just like to be able to say everything from the heads back is stainless

It is mandrel bent and has a single O2 sensor bung for a wideband. Secondary O2s should be simmed. If you want to go the spark plug defouler route, it should only cost 20-30 dollars to have 2 bungs welded on at an exhaust shop. It uses 2.25" Primary piping (same as cattman header collectors) and goes into a flowmaster 2.25">3" merge collector, then a high quality 3" stainless steel flex pipe and 3" stainless manual cutout. This Y-pipe deletes your Cat or test-pipe, connecting straight to the Catback. If you must meet emissions, you can swap your cattman Y-pipe and cat back on when the time comes with relative simplicity (8 bolts total if you leave the cat bolted to the Y-pipe).

It will only fit cattman headers as far as I know. It's likely that it could be modified rather easily to fit OBX or ebay headers by an exhaust shop. Especially ebay headers since they are shorter than Cattmans and would only require extension of the primaries.

The non-equal length design was required to make the Y collector fit without making the costs much higher or hacking up the cattman piece, but it has very little effect on power, sound is the main difference. So it sounds a little more like a 1st gen OBX VQ! Here's a short video 0-85 or so:

Pic of Cattman Y-pipe next to a piece of 3" piping for comparison.

Being Fabbed:

Completed with a little welding to go:

As it sits right now in my garage:

Looking for 200 picked up, OBO. Can meet or deliver based on distance. I will ask you to pay gas if I'm hiking more than 20 miles. Not really looking to ship it right now as the size/shape could make that troublesome and costly.

Please keep this thread on topic. If you have non sale related questions, concerns or opinions, shoot me a PM. Don't want this thread turning into a debate.

This would make an interesting project with some ebay headers too though. An exhaust shop could make small extensions that mate it up to the Y-pipe.

It will also bolt up to a 2.5" or stock exhaust. So at the track you have a full 3" with the cutout open, and can keep your quiet 2.5"/stocker for the street.

I walked all over a B18 swapped full bolton/stripped CRX on slicks at the track last year. He was running mid 13s at 104-105 and beating all the other 4th/5th gens in our local "maxima club." Even steven's DE-K swapped full bolton and "tuned" 4th gen. Who knows, maybe a 3" Y-pipe will make your 3.0 capable of beating the VTECs, too!

While I do like to make fun of your 3.0, I will admit that were I only allowed to use a stock bottom end, I would rather boost a DE-K than a 3.5.

Crap, thread derail has begun.

I'd love to see some results with ebay headers (ditch the Y-pipe that comes with them) and a little time at an exhaust shop to extend them to fit with this Y-pipe. It would definitely kick some *** on a supercharged car with the cutout open, as your sig seems to suggest. I wouldn't be surprised at 20+whp gains from a full 2.5" exhaust.

Like these cheapies:

The OBX could probably even be made to work judging from their appearance. Looks like the flange that goes to the front header could be moved back and repositioned as needed to meet the front OBX flange, and the back one could be welded straight to the OBX piping.

Bump for a new picture as it sits right now in my garage. You can see the pretty and complete welds, and no corrosion.

I totaly agree with you. But I think it'll be better off if I start from scratch because Id rather not keep modifying yours an hack it all up. I am supercharged, the ypipe and 2.5" catback I have is restricting my hp big time.. The plan for me is to get a bigger ypipe on my long runner OBX headers, and a 3" side exit exhaust with the longest str8 through muffler I can fit. I like the sound of my supercharged DEK with unequal y-piping at idle; makes everyone think I'm running a serious cam with serious loping ahah.

GLWS.

Probably so. Hacking it up wouldn't be a big deal, just consider how it was fabricated. From pieces. Same exact ordeal, you're just starting with the Y-flex-cutout in the right place, and the primaries pretty close. Still, in the end your price probably wouldn't be much different using this one or having a new one fabbed, although I'm led to believe I got a great deal on the labor for this. Took him around 4 hours to build it.

Noooow this comes along, once I've finished my exhaust set up! I've been wanting a 3" header back set-up forever. Graduate school now has me by the financial *********, or I'd be all over this.

Sidenote: I sure would love to see dyno differences between this and Brian's 2.5" Y-pipe, with both runs having Gen III headers and the 3" cat-back.

I would love to as well, but that would cost a good deal of cash and most of my dyno time in the near future is going to be dialing in timing tune and testing 3 intake setups, plus SSIM vs vias delete (possibly).

Have some non-local interest. Want to give locals a little more time to pipe up before you go making me work to box this thing up and ship it.

ups will charge you extra if its not in a box, they will say since the shape is irregular it will need to be handled by a person the whole time and not a machine

I see. Guess I should start looking for large boxes.... Sucks that I didn't keep the boxes that any of my cattman exhaust stuff came in.

you can ship it usps in bubble wrap for almost half the price of ups but it will take longer to get there
