00-01 OEM Headlights HID Retrofit

This is a few weeks old retrofit that I did but now wanting to make another set with different projectors & 02-03 housing. This retrofit is a huge upgrade over the stock setup. It has very nice thin and shap cutoff and awesome color flicker. Compared to other projectors that I've played with such as TSXs, Valeos, Stock RX330s, E55s, E46s (single), this has better performance in term of width, intensity, and cutoff. I'm selling this to fund the next project. Package includes:

- Pair of OEM 00 Maxima SE headlights, cleaned and buffed. Bezel was primed and painted semi gloss black. Chrome corner bezel (bulbs will be included).

- Pair of Morimoto Mini H1 Bi-Xenon Projectors. Tweaked for sharpness and flat cutoff.
- Pair of E46 shrouds.
- Pair of Morimoto 4300K bulbs/ Ebay 5000K bulbs (currently installed).
- Pair of Ebay aftermarket ballasts

I also post some more pictures in this thread http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ow-here-4.html.

$260 for the headlights + bulbs + aftermarket ballsts shipped within 48 states. I'm new here, so don't have much of feedback but look for MSU200 in HIDPlanet.

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...ack-for-MSU200

I only accept Paypal with verified/confirmed address only at this time.
Let me know any questions.

Thanks

It's there toward the last replies, since it was not a new thread that I created. It was a respond to thread type of thing.

Anyway, I can add more pictures if you want to see something specifics.

Thanks

I thought about doing this, but I'd be more interested in 02-03 headlights preferably ebay ones since I'm going to mangle it anyway.

Sorry guys, I could see it that's weird. Anyway, here are the built pictures

left is orignal lens, right is buffed

test fit and aim. Had to modify the H4 adaptor plate on Mini H1 to get the cut off alligned. This should not happened since the H4 adaptor plate supposed to make sure that the projector ratationally alligned, but the quality control on these projectors are sometimes off. The passenger side can be alligned a little better but it's good enough for me. you can't tell unless you are 120 feet away.

old headlights

These are the Mori H1 Projectors installed but with different shrouds since it didn't go to well with Gatling Gun shrouds IMO.

Random projectors pictures just to give you an idea how compact it is. Left to right, Mori, A4 Valeo, RX330, TL.

Thanks

Thanks. Looking at your sig, I think that is Appolo shrouds with 3 inch projector. I think 3"projector is a better fit in our housing since it fills the gap more. That's the reason I used e46 shrouds to give it fuller look.

I also painted the bezel black over the chrome area next to turn signal diffuser.

I would be be very interested if I was not already working on a set of FX projectors. Good luck and glad to see what the shrouds look like as that is what I have on order.

Bump,

re-alligned the cut off few nights ago and saw the paint around the bottom surface of the bezel curled up. I think it is because I didn't let it dry enough before putting back together, the sun and the projector kind cooked it a little, not bad but visible if you're about 3" from the lens. Was going to open it and repaint it again, but it didn't get any worse.

Lower price to $360 shipped for the package.

Not perfect, but decent cut off alignement IMO.

Bump,
I'll even polish the headlight again and apply sealer before shipping. I need to fund my next project. The parts alone cost at least this much. I was thinking of re-using the components for next projects, I just don't want to tear it apart.

Make me an offer guys...

Why spend $360 on retofitted headlights when you can have stock OEM 02-03 headlights for about the same price, here is comparison between 02-03 stock HID (4300K bulbs) left side and Retrofit Mini (5000K) right side in the same car.

02-03 Stock HID.

00-01 Retrofited headlight

Retrofitted Mini has 5000K bulb so it looks whiter than the stock 02-03 HID does. But regarldless the bulb color, the stock has no width, very fuzzy cutoff, and no color flicker.

hmm start to wonder, is it the look, the price, the quality, being new here, people don't like HID retrofit anymore, or what?

Bump.

On the org. 9 times out of 10 it'll be the price lol. Why not keep them or rebuild them and maybe put another mini projector on the turn signal or something other-worldly.

Yep, I was afraid of that. Retrofitting isn't cheap sadly, those Morimoto kit runs $270 + shipping at TRS. Used mint OEM headlights are about $100-120 shipped. If you go with the pros, you add another $150-$250 for labor.

Bumpity bump.

OP are you on hidplanet? I'd love to see a quad setup on the 02-03s. Trying to put a matchbox projector in the high beam spot on my 5.5 now. Threaded back fitment didnt work at all as I had hoped. Currently mini h1s in my fogs.

Bump for some great projectors.

Yea, I'm MSU200 in HID planet. Didn't k now how to change ID to make it the same. Still trying to figure out how to mount the RX to the low beam spot, tight fit but I think it's do-able. I ended up removing half of the reflector depth so I can mount it far back, even that it's still not enough I think. We'll see how it goes once I test fitted the shroud. The reflector housing is just too shallow for even Mini H1. You can do it but it's sticking out too much and looks weird.
