WTB: looking for a deal on a tuning solution for a 5.5

EDIT: Nobody has a Utec or somethin??

Ive got an '02, and am searching for a tuning device for sale, preferably with a plug n play harness included. I don't really think I want a simple AFC, I'd like to be able to make real power hah.
At the moment I sadly don't have money for haltech, I'm trying to invest in a new motor.
Anybody got anything? Preferably for a smokin deal?
thanks

That honestly sounds real nice! You don't feel like you were missing power without being able to advance any timing though??

Not at all, messing with the air/fuel gives you excellent power gains, trust me=p apexi neo wil do the job just fine, when youre ready get the money up, skip utec and go straight to haltech.

Awesome. Sounds very reasonable dude. And the utec to haltech skip makes sense as well. Sorry if all my questions are annoying you, do you mind tellin me what separates apexi neo from a regular VAFC?? I can't figure it out, but an apexi neo is 400 bones! ): surprised me is all, I can't figure out what separates it from a 24 correction point, 200 dollar VAFC.

No worries man, you arent annoying me at all. $400 for an apexi neo?! HAAAAAAAA i got mine brand new in the box for like $170. i wouldnt spend over $200 on one honestly, And the apexi neo is the newest version of the older Air fuel controllers, and has more tuning points. i think the apexi neo lay out is easier to navigate than the safc/vafc. But definitely go with the neo for now. And like i said the utecs cause so many issues i know only a handful that have ones that function properly.

Apexi neo > safc-safc2-vafc2

check the honda forums, ebay and craigslist they are sold cheap cause usually people upgrade to fancier tuning devices.

Yay! He's encouraging me to make him an offer too

Anybody mind chiming in on how I could directly hook this to a battery or something and check to see if it powers on properly before I purchase??

I don't think it would be as simple as touching the power and ground wireson the neo to his battery, would it??

Sorry to kill someones thread. Clint what issues did you have with UTEC? I have read the cold start issues (misfire issues) which I am in Canada and that will prove to be an issue. What else am I missing?

i never had any personally, i had one friend who couldnt add fuel, it wouldnt allow him or something those lines, another person had issue adjusting timing. i have heard too many horror stories with the unit, and honestly for the OP who made the thread, apexi neo would be so much simpler to use for now til he grasps tuning then can upgrade further, ya know?

NEO and SAFC2 work the same with respect to the Maxima MAF, the NEO has more tuning points, the VAFC is designed to work with a pressure sensor so it's not great for a MAF-based car.

Every UTEC I've sold has never had issues?

The fastest N/A Maxima (NWP) uses UTEC. lol

Something along those lines, yeah my brother's uncle's cousin's mother in law had issues doing something vague and general to the UTEC that I'm not really sure of either.

AFC is a good starting option and you can get a decent degree of tunability out of it, congratulations on your purchase and let me know if you have any questions.

Apexi neo is DEFINITELY what I'd recommend if you're just starting, its more than enough, as you learn more about tuning and etc then you can upgrade with my man Mr Moncef
