Pics of the Slotted/Dimpled rotors on the car

Here are a few pics of them on the car. They look AWESOME. That is all I can say. Unfortunately I could not get the rears off cause they were stuck. I gotta get some WD40 and my hammer from my brother to get it off. Until now, the fronts will do till tommorow evening.

I have not been able to ride hard on them since I am trying to "break" them in slowly. Will let everyone know how they stop in a week.

Pitures of the rotors out the box and Installed are HERE!!!

why did you get them? they are pretty cheap, but i'd question their functionality... unless you're just in it for the look, then it's a good deal!

You telling me you are questiong their functionality based on it being slotted and dimpled? You are wrong son.

These are prooven by professional dragsters. They are good and better than cross drilled. Cross drilled crack too easily under high heat stress.

I got them both for functionality and cosmetical. Aint nothing wrong with that.

So they are clearly on the wrong side. Son of a.......... well it is a ten minute job to switch them around. No biggie, I gotta do the rears tonight anyways. Got to get the stock rears off for sure this time.

They looked more normal to me that way since they sort of matched the way the spokes are on my rims.

So which side should sit on the hub? I always assumed the vanes on a vented rotor had to be a certain direction but never knew for sure....

The rotor itself can only fit one way on the hub itself, but they can be mistakenly put on the wrong sides of the car as I did right now.

Kinda like putting the rotors on the wrong side of the car?

These are prooven by professional dragsters. They are good and better than cross drilled. Cross drilled crack too easily under high heat stress.
cause, dragsters know a lot about braking systems over road racers.

These are better than x-drilled, but still worse than a rotor like a brembo blank.

You speak of high heat stress... the rotor absorbs and dissipates heat... remove material from the rotor and it can no longer absorb the heat as well as a blank rotor. The only thing the dimpled and slotted rotors (or x-drills) are remove the gas build-up between the pad and the rotor...

overall, there's no improvement on braking distance whatsoever. And i'm sure you don't road race the car, so brake fade isn't a concern...

but, they do look purdy and they are truly a great price for those rotors!

Well as you can see from the responses, anyone could have made the mistake of putting them on the wrong sides. I have correct that today and also did the rears. Everything in 1hr flat. If I had my impact wrench, i swear it wouldve been 25mins.

The principle sounds good... but I wonder if the dimples could become fouled with with brake dust (or something) in operation. It also appears to me the dimpling and slots effectively reduce swept area quite a bit.

And... finally... who made the blanks for these rotors? I seem to recall Stillen gets Brembo blanks for their x-drilled rotors, but could be wrong.

If you get the 3rd-4th gen, you get Brembo front and EMC rears, 5th gens get EMC front and rear blanks.

EMC is some company like brembo but bigger in the asian market.

Hey hows the breaking feel (Im sure its 100X better then stock) Lets us know how they feel after the break-in time is up. Also what type of pads did you use?

Read This!

Rotors 101

I think they look great, just question any performance benefits.

that's a good article... i just wish more people heeded this.

what improves braking distance:
a. bigger brake rotors
b. larger brake pad surface
c. better brake pad compounds
d. stickier tyres
e. slotted/dimpled/x-drilled rotors
f. more clamping force on the pads (ie. 4 piston calipers)
g. stainless steel brake lines
h. higher boiling point brake fluid

if you answered d., you are correct.

NOTHING ELSE ON THAT LIST IMPROVES INTIAL STOPPING DISTANCES. They DO, however, contribute to preventing fade to some degree, modulation of the braking force applied, eliminating rotational mass, longer lasting brake equipment, etc etc.

So, like i said in the beginning, these rotors are 95% cosmetic, 5% in the name of performance.

Look enough of the freagin remarks. I got these rotors cause they look nice and they will perform better than my stock rotors when I try to stop from 100+mph.

I aint taking it to a Nascar track.

its ok.. We appreciate your effort on the group deal, taking pics and just trying to help everyone here with our crappy rotors.

Being that you paid ALOT less for your rotors than stock, the whole performance/cosmetic arguement is kinda moot.. its not like you paid for something you arent getting.. you are getting nice new rotors to stop with.. obviously they do that fine.
