My Trans Blew

I HAVE A 2001 SE AND TODAY MY TRANS BLEW. I AM SO ****ED OFF.I HAD MY CAR FOR ONLY A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND I HAVE 17000 MLES ON IT. I HAVE ONLY ONE AFTERMARKET PART AND IT IS THE JET V-FORCE PERFORMANCE
MODULE. I DON'T DRIVE STUPID, I DRIVE FAST BUT THAT'S ABOUT ALL NO BURNOUTS, NO BRAKE TORQUE, NO NEUTRAL DROPS, EXCEPT DO SHIFT 1 AND 2 INMY AUTOMATIC.

sorry to hear this man.....glad u r still under warranty and u can get a replacement. btw, i suggest not to mentioned about ur performance chip to the dealer. dealer has the right to void any warranty work if they found out that the mod is actaully causing the problem.

good luck

I don't understand...How did your trans blow so quickly???
For some reason I had a gut feeling that Nissan trannys were not as good as toyota or honda.

Have you lost all the gears? My SHO tranny went out at 90K miles. I'm thinking if I knew about companies like Level 10 I probably would have had it rebuilt.

One other thing to keep in mind: They're probably going to put a used or rebuilt tranny in your car. You might want to find out first.

In a couple years(maybe sooner) I'm definitely going to either Level 10 or NRH in Maryland.

Have you noticed any gains or anything from that chip? everyone says and claims it is worthless.

Yeah, I've heard those chips are pretty useless too... also, you might want to get that CAPS LOCK on your keyboard fixed.

What exactly is the transmission doing if you say it blew? Will it not go into any gear or does it not shift or...?

unfortunately...

you were manually shifting where the problem lies, 1-2. it was programmed to shift slowly/softly and eventually kills itself. Its not a flaw, it was actually designed that way. Granny's tranny wont ever blow.

Dont get too upset. Honda/Acura is having the exact same problem.. and believe it or not ('cause this is rare) Nissan is actually much quicker to replace the trans. Pretty much no hassle or questions asked once its actually broke. There are a slew of TSBs out to help the dealer to diagnose and do the work correctly.

Alot of us have had problems. The parts are usually stock, or only a few days off (which for a trans isnt bad). Of all the problems we can have, you probably had one of the easiest to get fixed.

2k2s Autos are supposed to have beefed up internals, so no need to worry there.

So the 00-01 autos are prone to have more problems compared to the 02? So, manually shifting a 02 auto once in awhile shouldn't cause any problems right?

Beefed up? My SHO tranny was supposed to be beefed up. I lost reverse at about 90K. Since then I don't manual shift my automatics. Unless I've Level 10ed it.

Although I'm sure no one really cares . . . Internet forums have pretty much made me sick of caps lock, posts written using some new language that makes ubonics seem advanced ("ur" "u" "dat" "dem" etc), incoherent rambling posts that leave you wondering how the poster communicates in daily life, and the ever-present punctuation-less posts that make reading James Joyce's "Ulysses" novel seem like easy reading.

I understand how frustrating it is to lose a transmission so early, and I'm glad it will be covered under warranty. I lost two of them in my 3rd gen SE. But I'm not sure why anyone would manually shift a auto. Doesn't that contradict what is was designed to do?

It reminds me of the man who bought a power chain saw at Sears that was guaranteed to knock down ten trees per day. When he came back to the store two weeks later with the saw he was dirty, tired with many bruises and cuts. "I want my money back." he lamented. "It took me two weeks to knock down those ten trees." The salesman offered to help. He pulled the cord and on the first try and the saw made a smooth and steady b u r r r r r r r r r r r r r sound. The customer looked puzzled and said, "What's that noise?"

Re: My Trans Blew

I feel your pain I blew 2 trannys in my eclipse at 90k, but hopefully I wont have to worry about that in my max. This is very unusual that your tranny blew at 17k, I know people that have nissans with 120k+ miles and the tranny's are still fine. Might want to ease up on the auto shifting next time, that might have caused it.
