transmission question...

did a search already... just wanted to know if it shows up on the cars computer...

when i went to the dealer to try to get them to do a tranny tsb, they said that they will check into it... (fyi... the tranny tsb deals with transmission lag/slip)

They used the ODB diagnostic thingy (onboard self computer check thingy), and said that the car reported no problems.

Does the slip show up on ODB, or is it one of those stealth problems... (very similar to windows...) of which the onboard computer would not admit too? leading it to not show up on the ODB DTC thingy...

I doubt it reads in the computer since it is a bad start that the computer itself considered it ok! the reason that some tranny slips is because the design. they designed it initially for a smooth ride but turned out that it was a mistake and the work involved to replace the TCM (the chip that tells the car when to shift)

the best way to deal with it is to have one of them sitting in your car and u drive around and show them that the slippage problem does exist!

good luck.

I see your point, but getting them to drive with me... the problem is that the problem is not persistant... Its here today, gone tommorrow, which is annoying. Besides, I commute to work on weekdays via mass transit... don't have time to do a little "show and tell"...

does it happen when u floor ur car? try it when the car is cold, that's where the problem seems to happen the most...or if it just doesnt happen at all...u just have to tell them that the problem exist and insis them to fix it per TSB. have u tried all the dealers?

Come to think of it, it seems to slip more often before the tranny is cold, so bringing it to my dealer where I got the car is moot. (The place is a good 30~45 minute drive.)

So I will probably go to a dealer close to me and see if they will do it. I remember it starts with a K or something... (me in flushing, queens, NyC)
Heard some good comments about them on the board.

The first time that that I took mine in, they checked something (?) and told me that it was within spec. The next time I came in, I complained and told SM that I was really disappointed. Then I asked to drive a 2K2 to see If it was the same. I told SM that the 2K2 was much better. I had also informed him of the TSB (that surprised him). Anyway, to shorten the story, he agreed to fix the problem. It has been much better since. The SM and I have a pretty good relationship now. I haven't taken him to lunch, yet. The moral, i guess, is to be persistent. Hope this helps.
