If you don't have the power seats then you'l need that too.... don't know if base GXEs came pre-wired for power seats...

I recently did the leatherseats.com installation myself. I found it to be rather straightforward. It took me about 4-5 hrs by myself.
Only difficult part was the drivers side chair controls...and getting the holes properly aligned. I didn't dare attempt the door panels because it requires you actually adhere, in place, over the existing fabric. I was afraid that the potential for something to go really wrong there wasn't worth the risk.
I was fortunate enough to buy a kit in the for sale section for $400 shipped. Leather is two-tone, perforated inserts with logo. Group deals happen quite frequently in the GD section. I also don't think its possible to buy the interior without the installation kit so expect an additional $40 dollars above any interior costs to do it properly.
If you have any questions about the installation, drop me a line.

Leatherseats.com GD
The leatherseats.com group deal is running right now in the group deals forum so you can get those custom 2 tones for up to 135 dollars less than their retail. We're collecting at least 10 for the deal so take a look.

I've seen their work on a 4th gen and was very surprised. It was exceptional, and matched the interior perfectly.
I am part of the group deal that is taking place now, and urge you to join. I honestly think you would be best off this way, as they can really do things you can't get from the factory; like two-tone, embroidery, etc.
Plus you'll save yourself a bundle, and me too (as more people join, the price gets lower!)

Hey genix, if you do this let me know. Where in Hawaii do you live? I was wondering what the install was going to be like for aftermarket leather, so if you get them, I was wondering if I could come and watch you install them. By the way, the new MaxImage forums are back up. www.maximage.org or forums.maximage.org. Check them out. The leatherseats.com covers are of better quality than the OEM ones from what I've heard. The 2k2 actually has pretty good quality leather, but the 2k and 2k1 OEM leather is alright...kinda thin.

From what I understand -
The OEM supplier for Nissan is 'Classic Soft Trim' (www.classicsofttrim.com). They offer two different kits. One is their kit, Classic(around $1000 installed) and the Nissan Kit (costs a little more and contains a little more leather). The Nissan Kit can be bought at time of purchase and sometimes after delivery. However the Nissan Kit restricts you to certain colors/styles etc. (i.e. you can't get the 'gathered' leather in a Classic Kit during the current model year) It actually carries a Nissan part #. The Classic Kit can be ordered any way you like.
I'm currently going thru this (pain in the butt) and have done quite a bit of research, calls, etc. I tried to get the Nissan Kit but they would only offer 'perforated' in a two-tone. So I'll be getting the Classic Kit soon.
I considered leatherseats.com but really don't want to install myself on a new car - not to mention door panels. Besides some of the install pics I've seen seem to have some 'loose' fitting panels in spots - although I've heard the leather may shrink a bit so maybe it will tighten up.
Go to their web site for more info. Check installation locations and call.
GoodLuck

I don't know if it's original factory leather, but I picked up a brochure for genuine Nissan Maxima accesories from the dealership the other day and they listed the leather at $1,000 for single color and $1,300 for two-tone. Don't quote me exactly on those prices but I can verify them when I get home from work. It was no where close to $7,000.

I have a 02 Maxima with cloth seats. I found in a junk yard Leather and also heated. I installed the passenger side with no problems and it works. But the driver side wiring harness doesn't match the seat. The seat looks like it has a lot more to it. How can I fix this problem?

Like most are saying.. If your gonna go through all the trouble of swapping the cloth just buy from LeatherSeats.com and install it yourself and save money on the install.. shops may charge 500 or more to install the new seat kit. Your pockets might not be happy but you will. ![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I installed mine myself and it isnt that difficult, just takes time.. You can start with the rear bucket seat, thats the easiest one to do and go from there. I did the rear seats one day and the front seats the next day. Each front seat took me about 2 hours. the rear seats about 4 hours. Take your time and it will come out nice.
