Petition to all those who believe the Maxima is God's chariot

I was doing a little digging this afternoon through some old school thread here and came up with some rough mathematics for everyone.

Ratio of wins/losses for a 2K2 6spd against an S4 (unknown tranny)
19:2
Ratio of wins/losses for a 2K2 6spd against a CL-S 6spd
4:0
Ratio of wins/losses for a 2K2 auto against a CL-S auto
24:1
Ratio of wins/losses for a 2K2 auto against a TL-S auto
13:4
Ratio of wins/losses for a 2K-2K3 against any car
85:19

That is just what I uncovered through about an hour or so of searching old threads. There are two possibilities for the above results....
1) The 5th gen Maxima is indeed God's chariot and the few times it has lost to any car (particularly Acuras....Satans buggy) was due to flat tires or missing spark plugs.
2) There is a WHOLE LOT of exaggeration going on in here.

For fun, I checked acura-cl.com and clubsi.com. The pattern is somewhat similar of the forums car vs the world. I, for one, would like to personally ask each .org member who decides to post a kill to do so in a manner that doesn't embellish or exaggerate. I have been killed by many cars and I have killed many cars. There is no shame in losing. Heck, one time I was taken off guard by a new Tiburon. Stuff happens. Lets just try to elevate the dignity of this forum by keeping the facts separate from fiction.

Hmmm, maybe you should start a new thread and ask that....no, please dont you'll be burned alive in the flame war. The honest answer is maybe, its a drivers race as the two are so close.

Obviously, members do not excitedly rush here to post how they were just beaten by a car they thought they should be faster than. If it was by a much faster car and a beating was inevitable anyway then there is no hurt pride and the odds of a posting will increase. Since you're so interested in such statistics though, I'll post my embarrassing moments: I was beaten by an Oldsmobile LLS. And once, on the highway, I could not break away from a Grand Am GT from 90-140kph going up a hill. Strange but true. Oh, and I almost forgot about the time I barely beat a '91 integra LS to 100kph. Am I embarrassing anybody yet?

I know that people are more inclined to post kills rather than deaths, my point is the exaggeration level in some stories. For example there was a post I read a while back that was talking about leaving an S4 standing still..... Also there is a plethora of posts about leaving CL-S's by 5 car lengths from 50-80mph. Believe me, I know the Maxima is extremely fast for its price and size, but please be truthful when you do post.

I agree that some tales are too far-fetched to take seriously. Perhaps, rather than labelling such yarns "dishonest" we can just think of the authors as utilizing their poetic license to capture the audience's attention. There's nothing wrong with a little hyperbole here and there. It's kind of like those Penthouse forum letters where the most beautiful girls just stop guys on the street practically demanding extravagant sex with them.

I can see your point. I guess we all add out own little twist to the story and make it out for the best with our agenda in mind. I only worry about this otherwise upstanding forums reputation when a CL-S or TL-S owner comes on here and is immediately told that his car sucks and our cars put bus lengths on them from a run from 0-30mph.

It's kind of like those Penthouse forum letters where the most beautiful girls just stop guys on the street practically demanding extravagant sex with them.

I've been taken by a V8 Explorer.. he had the jump, and kept leaving me. Second time, he still pulled on me till about 40-50mph then I finally started pulling hard on him to 100mph..

Well lets see, my record at the track is somewhere around 1-15 or so. My only win there against a ford focus, all the losses to souped up american V8's. on the street I'm 21-2, winning against a bunch of slow cars (two decent ones 3000gt sl and 300zx na) and losing to two sport bikes. you can factor that in if you'd like. 22-17 for me.

I need to race some good cars on the street, i can't ever get any of them to play...

There are plenty of stories of kills where the author probably only thinks the other guy was playing.

There are several expeditions in town that think they've beaten the mighty maxima, but that's only becuase I know where all the speed traps are on LSD...

There are also saturns and escorts who think they beaten me, but that's only because I was too busy laughing.

There are hundreds of cars out there who think they beaten me, but only because I was looking for a rabbit to do 70 in a 45mph zone. (They mostly do fly-bys, but a rabbit is a rabbit... )

As a Christian, I find it offensive to call any car God's chariot.

Especially because God is omnipresent!!

However, I do understand the nature of the 'God's chariot' statement. (I've beaten a TL-S on at least 3 occassions in both drag racing and top speed.) That said, as long as BMW is making an M3 or M5, you can forget about the Maxima being considered in this regard.

Perhaps people are simply more likely to post about a win than a loss and THAT is why you see such a stellar record for the maxima.

Perhaps it was just the math/statistical side of me that wanted to do those stats. More specifically the thing that troubles me is how one can claim that a car like the CL-S or TL-S 'suck'. Its quite obvious that the Maxima is very equal to those (and other) cars that saying that they Acura gang sucks is equivalent to saying that 'we' suck.

I do realize that it would be kind of depressing to read '_______ killed me today' stories all day on the .org, but I just petition those that do post kill stories to be complete and truthful in posting them.

A maxima would fall under the definition of a chariot also. In my case it is drawn by 222 horses, and has been used many times in war, races, and processions, and also for exceeding amounts of pleasure.

So, if God is with us in our cars, and our cars can be considered chariots, it's safe to say that the Maxima IS God's chariot.

Some people's ego's are just more attached to their cars than others. They're much more likely to post up kill stories than loss stories, as loss stories are rather sad.

But I don't care.

I raced a CL-S and beat one. The next time I race one, if I get beat, I'll post that up too because I don't care. The VR6 I raced the other week freakin owned me in the twisties although I did smoke him off the line. And when I had my Accord V6 I got beat by a damned 02 Mercury Mountaineer V8 from 50 up to about 80. God did that suck! My car got HIT from that b!tch too...and I was modded!!! God was I ****ed after that...I was ready to sell my car!

I also got raped right up the butt by a Ford van. This time I had no choice but to get another car! PIC hehehe

Anyways, I agree with Maximus. There's no shame in losing. Maxima's do pretty well but there are many faster cars out there. But I don't usually post up "loss" stories because I just don't have any to post. I know who the faster cars are and don't mess with them, and they don't mess with me either.

Here's my current record in the Maxima

Kills
2 GS-R's (both stock), 1-2 car-lengths from 60-90
1 Lincoln LS V8, 3-4 car-lengths from 30-80 and he caught me in the bottom of 2nd gear.
1 Accord V6 from around 60-120, many many many car lengths.
1 Acura CL-S. From 5-80 (street start), 3/4-length off my back bumper, very close.
1 Probe GT 5spd with mods, 30-90, about 3-4 car lengths
1 Jetta VR6 5spd, 0-70, not sure how much. At least 2-3.
1 Camry Solara SE V6 5spd, 80-125, about 7-8 car-lengths.

Losses
94-98 Mustang GT 5spd with mods: 2-3 car-lengths from 50-90

Draws
02 WRX 5spd: DEAD EVEN from about 30-85 mph.

Dive deeper brah!! When you're omnipresent you don't require ANY means of transportation (i.e.: chariot, maxima, etc,...) because you'll already be where you need to go. Realistically, if you're omnipresent YOU would probably be your own means of transportation.

OK, so by tallying everyone's contributions to this thread, the maxima comes out 138-63-2... not bad, certainly probably more accurate than 85-19... In fact, i'd say thats probably somewhere around where it should be, due to the amount of cars that can beat us to the ones that can't and who would be willing to race what...
