IS300 look

Everytime I see an IS300 I wish I had a car that sat like that. It just looks sweet. Anybody know of any comination of springs, struts or whatever to make it sit like one?

Besides getting rid of my Max and getting a Lexus IS300! I figured I would get one of those replies.

any lowering springs will make ur car sit like an is300, or even lower...but the front of IS300 is narrow and flat, which makes it look lowered. Maxima has a bulky front.

It seems to me that it squats (sits lower) than anybody with aftermarket springs on a Max that I've seen.

...Not true, just the other day I was having a business lunch at a nice restaurant in Fort Worth and pulled up right next to one, my wheel gap with the H&R's was exactly the same up front as the IS 300, and actually a tad lower in the rear. Nice...

How much lower do H&R's make it sit?

It's the way the IS300 was designed. The wheel wells aren't as flared as a Maxima, so it looks lowered, even when stock. The BMW's are the same way.

The Max on the other hand looks like a Jeep Eagle it's wheel wells are so flared. I see pics of lowered 5th Gens on the ORG I can't even tell their lowered most of the time.

I'll have to agree... my friend just bought a 2002 BMW CI w/ the sports supension and it looks lower than the IS300 and most cars w/ aftermarket springs..

One day we were going to a movie, and an IS300 that was the same color as the Max crossed the road in front of us. My young son exclaims: "Daddy, we have a car like that!"

I was LMAO!

Why I didnt get an IS 300

I just had to respond to the IS 300 discussion. Regardless of the way it looks, for the money its just not a better deal than the Maxima. I was in love with them from the day they came out. I test drove an one, a great car, drove real nice, kinda toyish looking inside, but nonetheless a nice car. It just didnt have everything my fully loaded 2k2 SE has (for less money).
Example, IS 300 has no controls on the wheel, (except for that stupid auto shift thing), doesnt have a heated steering wheel, much less hp, I could go on.
These are just little things, but for the approximately $4 grand difference in price and the fact that Nissan gave me $2000 more for my trade in I just could nt beat the deal or the quality of the car.

Actually the more I look at them, the more they just look like a big Civic to me....

ah...guess u didnt test drive the IS300 on turns. try enter a 20mph on ramp with 45 mph with the stock maxima and Is300.....then u will change ur mind on calling it a big civic or corolla on roids....

Nothing against the IS 300. I said I drove it, and it rides real nice. The max would take an on-ramp like an ocean liner. But my point was:

(A) its not a better overall deal for the $ and options you get, (unless you wanna drive on-ramps all day long).
and
(B) it just "looks" like a big civic. (Obviously Lexus quality is a tad better than Hondas)....

Yeah, the IS300 may look like a "big Civic", but can a Maxima do this:

...If you think the IS300 in that vid is stock you are smoking crack rock. If you put enough $$$ into Max suspension, it could do all that and more...

You're smokin serious crack rock if you think springs/sway bars will make a Max take s-curves like that.

...I didn't say that. What I said was, if you spend enough money a Max can do that. That lexus was a racing team spec car. Not a stock street car. If Maxima put racing suspension components in their cars they would handle that way... Next time READ my post, don't just respond to it.

...Well, you definitely proved me wrong by resorting to name calling and profanity. I don't know what's got you so fired up, but it doesn't say a lot for your intelligence and maturity that you get so upset when someone debates a point of view with you. All I said was that the car in that video (though impressive) was not representative of what all Lexus IS300's can do. It is representative of what a highly tuned, reduced weight, racing spec competition car can do. That doen't mean its not cool, I am just saying that with the right tools, money, and equipment any Maxima can do the same impressive track manuevers... You don't have to take it personally. And if you thought I was saying MY car or any .org car with just springs and sway bars could do that, then no, you didn't read my post. Because I never said that. Chill man, its just a car thread.

I had to jump in and give my opinion. I do have bias, of course
being a max owner.

Both of these cars are performers. But it's all about
wants and needs when it comes to these two cars. Some people
want speed (max), others handling (300) and others looks.
Looks are hard to argue because to each their own. I personally
agree that every time I see an IS300 it reminds me of a civic.
But every time I see a max I keep thinking of a few cosmetic
changes that could be made. Both have great engines
with a lot of potential. But I would never put down
30k for IS300 when the 5spd G35 is around the corner with
a sticker less than 30k.

Just my thoughts,

boo

The real question is can you guys drive well enough to take advantage of any inherent handling differences a modded FWD vs RWD have. I doubt it.

With my current suspension setup, I wil challenge any of you IS lovers in the twisties. With the money I saved over that Alteeza, I have 19's on 245's and my suspensions mods. I can stick with that Lex-Da all day long. An Is 300 equipped like my Max would've cost me more $$ , and I would have less room in my car...!
