tire size for 17's. ???

i am looking at buying some Konig 17" x 7 rims.
-what size tire should i put on them. i don't want them to be too low profile where i will feel every bump in the road.
thanks

Unless it is your intention to restrict your ability to choose from a wide variety of high-performance tires OR potentially run tires that are out-of-spec for your rims, I would STRONGLY recommend against purchasing any rim with a width less than 7.5". If you don't know why I make that recommendation, you'd be well advised to read the tire posts in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ-U) sticky at the top of the 5th Gen Forum.

I have 235/45/ZR17 tires on my 17x7.5 Konigs

The ride is ok, not too harsh. You can't really tell how low profile they are on my sig. That pic was taken before my car was dropped as well..

ok, i read it. but what do you mean by not buying any rim that is less than 7.5"

- is there less tires to choose from to fit that rim. please expand on your reason not to buy a 7" wide rim. the rims i am looking at are the Konig Verdicts 17X7.

thanks for the info. good FAQ-U too

Like he said, check out the FAQ's and/or use search on this...literally dozens of threads on tire/rim size issues and reasoning.

Big time difference in tire selection. Go to www.discounttiredirect.com and select the rim size you want then click on the tire options. Now try this as well for a 17x7.5 rim and you'll see what y2kse is talking about.

As mentioned before, with a 7.5" gives you more flexibility especially if you go up in size to the 235mm width.

Why, I have a 6.5" wide rim on my maxima right now?
Why is 7" bad?

Well I recommend a 235/45/17 series tire, that size should be fine .

Good grief. Go to page 5 of the FAQs, go to the second post on that page called Tire & Rim Association Contour (Rim Width) Charts, click on the link and READ THE DAMN PDF FILE!

I just checked discount tire and the Verdicts come in 17x7.5 for $170.00 each. If you choose the 235/45/17 tires you have 26 total to select from. These tires are not meant to be mounted on 7' rims. My Falken FK451's actually say this on the tire, seriously.

What price are you getting the Verdicts in 7' for anyway? Might as well go wider....
