Maxima vs. Volvo C70

Before I get attacked, I am not a Volvo fan AT ALL. But walking out to my car the other day after work, I saw a black Volvo C70. I hate to say it, but that is a nice looking coupe. How does that match up against the Maxima?

As far as power, the C70 is available in either high pressure turbo (HPT) or low pressure turbo (LPT). The HPT is rated at either 236 or 247 hp depending on year. The LPT is either 190 or 197 hp. The HPT is available in either 5sp or auto, the LPT only with auto. In a straight line run, 2k2 6sp v HPT 5sp would pretty much be even. Wetterauer and IPD make chips for the Volvo (285 hp) so watch out. The nice thing about a turbo engine is the nice, flat torque curve.

Good luck putting up with the 1980s Chevy Camaro interior. Might as well have **** carpeting. Looks damn nice from the outside though. I was looking at both and happily bought my Maxima yesterday!!

The engine's definitely an "HPT". I believe the C70 has the same engine as it was in the T-5R (probably in the 850R also). Anyone still remember those?

Yep. Think the engine is the B5423T and still used in the S60 too.

HAve you ever been in an S60? It's not spacious by any means. Good luck if you are any taller than 6'.

We all have our preferences, I sold my S80 4 months ago so I am familiar with the interior, which btw is nice but I thought we were talking roominess? The S60 is very cramped. Having owned both I like the Max better. I do have to give Volvo the edge on interior quality though.
