I thought about the FSTB as well...I might do a maxspeed/fstb. I'm really flipping back and forth between the springs and the intake as my first drop in the bucket. I'm going to see how this poll turns out to help me make up my mind..cause right now I can't!
Whatever it is, throw it out and start smoking the Y-pipe...that is, if there is one for you guys with the 2K2. The Injen CAI is nice, but go with the y-pipe replacement first.
do u have RSB? I would recommand RSB first. 2k2 has enough power, but handling is still weak.

I think you made a grammatical mistake in that last sentance. It violates the rules of grammar for the word 'enough' to precede the word 'power.'Originally posted by [maxi-overdose]

My first two mods are Courtesy FSTB and Addco RSB. Total cost for that is less than the Injen CAI...unless that GD actually comes through. Gotta beef up the suspension first before you add more power, IMO.

Roger that. There isn't a normally-aspirated intake on the planet that will outperform a Y-pipe.Originally posted by MichaelAE

I agree that's why It's going to be my first real mod after I get a new job.Roger that. There isn't a normally-aspirated intake on the planet that will outperform a Y-pipe.

Well, the poll suggests otherwise...however, the car seems to have plenty of power. Take the other day, I was f*ing with a mitsu 3000 [VRT]-(?) anyhow, everything was fine until I hit the offramp...I almost **** trying to keep my car on the road. The SE doesn't have the handling to go with the power....however getting more power is more fun. Ugh. Looks like the masses have spoken...I'll get the injen...and be happy racing old 5.0's from stoplight to stoplight.Originally posted by Triple8Sol

Well, if it were me, I would consider getting new tires if you are still on the crappy OEM Bridgestones. My tire upgrade made more of a handling difference than my springs & FSTB.Originally posted by DrVolkl

Here's a list of mods you can do that are guaranteed legal and that will not void your warranty:
Reset two of your radio buttons to different stations
Move the drivers seat 1/2" back
Let 1 psi out of each tire
Turn off the auto light switch (or turn it on if it's off)
Dim your dash lights by ¼ turn
Raise the center consol to the upper position
Put the rear seat's center arm rest down
Put a flashlight in the glove box with a Maxima.org sticker on it.

I voted for the CAI, but after reading your post about the highway off-ramp, consider a RSB, and maybe FSTB, like Triple8Sol suggested. That's a quick, cheap way to improve the handling before you continue later with springs and struts/shocks.

I suggest item #3, since letting 1 psi out of each tire is truly a performance mod and that's really what the guy asked for.Originally posted by Magellan

What would we do without you, Magellan? Well, I wouldn't have "trip around the world" on my future vacations list if it weren't for you, that's for sure.

Suspension (FSTB, RSB, Springs, Shocks), then braking (expensive but so sweet), then power mods. Personally, I have a lot more fun driving the car fast in twisty roads, on-ramps, etc. while other cars TRY to keep up. It's a lot more fun for me than going from one light to the next in a straight line.
But that's just me...

Oh and all this stuff done prior to the power mods is also a lot safer.
Overall though, it all depends on what you really want. If you just want straight line power, then get a y-pipe. Depends on your driving style and street topology I guess.
