Insurance Rates Are Horrible
Insurance Rates Are Horrible
Yeah, I know everyone knows that already. The thing is, I am a teen and I pay a lot more than females (don't attack me here). I know teen guys are "high risky" drivers. I just think it's stupid. Another thing, I live in NJ...highest price in pretty much..the world. How much do all of you pay for insurance and what state? Thanks
It has to do a lot because of living in the Tri-state area and your age. I grew up in the Bronx and now live in San Diego. I have a 2k2 and pay $430 every six months. My parents pay more for there 95 Escort with just liability in NYC.

-you failed to mention what limits, what deductible, ticket/accident history, etc.
-there are a number of threads out there on this very topic which can be found using SEARCH (above right)
-unless you plan on moving, what difference does it make who pays what in any other location?
I know here in the Houston area (as in most other cities) insurance lines can be drawn at county borders and often neighbors who live across the street from each other can have notably different rates.
Jjs- You live in Houston? Im on the southwest side near beltway 8 and westheimer.
You cruise westheimer much ? Done much to your max? I just bought a 2003 Sheer silver max, 6spd, hlsd, leather, titanium package !
Just asking..
Cory

Re: Insurance Rates Are Horrible
A friend of mine is listed as an occasional (third) driver of his car, he is 20 years old right now, and has been driving for about 3 years now; he got his 2000 Maxima SE not too long following my purchase...
... he pays about $3300US/year for his insurance.
If he was a primary driver I'd expect that amount to go up by about 2.5x. He has several tickets exceeding posted highway speeds by over 50%.
In my case, I have a clean record of 5 years (which constitutes my driving experience), and would be paying $400US/month for my max.
Driving in Ontario sucks... girls pretty much have it all.
I was looking for a winter beater and found a $300 Toyota Tercel from the '80's. Guess how much they want for insurance - about $2800/year. Pretty farking ridiculous eh?
I'm helping a friend who is 17 get her first car, and insurance for a CRX would cost her about $300/year less for that car valued at 3k, as opposed to my 300-dollar car and being 22 with a clean record.
Insurance companies suck and deserve to be scammed!!!!!!

Of course insurance rates are horrible but it's not always the insurance companies's fault. Cars are getting faster, bigger and more expensive while drivers aren't getting more mature. Don't believe me? Read the next thread where a guy is bragging about racing an RT 5.9 on the street. He was doing 90 in a 35!
I pay 144/month for
100/300/100 coverage with 500 deducts, full glass, underinsured/uninsured, rental reimburse, towing.
Not bad for a 23 year old. I have no tickets and am on the Steer Clear program so my price will only go down 3 bucks when I turn 25. Not bad, but still pretty weak I think

FYI I use http://www.gmacinsurance.com/
Cheapest I have ever found and they don't stiff you when you need them.

damn, I see numbers like 144 a month and get jealous...I pay $2600/yr for full coverage 100/300...but I was quoted down to $1200/yr when I turn 25 next May..I would love to know what I am gonna learn in less than a year that warrants an over 50% drop in my insurance?
mine is ok
I'm currently paying $522.35 for 6 months. I live in Bellevue, WA (98007 zip). I have the following coverage:
liability bodily injury: 100K/300K property Damage: 100K
$50 ded. comprehensive
$250 ded. collision
emergency road service
underinsured motor vehicle bodily injury 100K/300K
underinsured motor vehicle property damage 100K
I'm 27, male and had only 1 claim for windshield replacement on my old car and never had any moving violations. My insurance used to be a lot less on my 91 Toyota Camry V6 (partly cuz it was old).

I had a pretty sh!tty record in the 90's and had a claim after getting my 99' Max (not related to driving record) State Farm raised my rate to $240/mo. Then dropped me. I went with Progressive and they were charging me $190/mo. and every 6mo. it dropped. When I traded the 99' in early May my rate was $130/mo.
Now with the 02' in my wifes name, back with State Farm because of the multiple policy discount till I get a new home owners policy with a new company, the rate is $92/mo. She gets the "Good Driver Discount" no wrecks, tickets or claims. (knock on wood)
All insurance has been 100/300/100 $250 deduct. W/most opts. in Atlanta.
