Build a custom '02 SE with $1,500!

If you had just $1,500 to work on your new Maxima(see below), and the stereo is all set (also see below), what would be the first few mods that you would buy? The budget is $1,500. If I get enough responses, I will go with popular choice. Please list the item with price (about), and if you know a good place to buy it that would be good too! Know this...I drive VERY fast, I drive in New England (lots of snow and potholes), I am VERY nervous about voiding my warranty, and I like stiff low cars (like my vette).

Boots, I would do a search, but here it goes:

Front Strut Tower Bar: around $40-50 on ebay (inexpensive generic)
Rear Sway Bar: Addco Get from courtesy nissan (courtesynissan.com) about $110
Struts: Either Toxico(good) or Modified KYB AGX(better)-between 350-450 depending what you decide. KYB's can be gotten at Cattman.com
Intake: Frankencar-$140 from frankencar.com
Lowering Springs: H&R or Eibach (do a search to find out which would be best for you)-between $200-$300

I would also recommend better tires, however this will bring you over your $1500 goal I think.

Happy Modding!!

REPLACE THE STOCK TIRES!!!

Mich. Pilot sports A/S or Nitto 555 The Nittos are cheaper (Those are what I have) but the Pilots are better overall but both at 10 times better than stock. I bought my Nitto w/18" wheels so I don't know where to get them from for your stock wheels Tire Rack sell the Pilot Sport A/A they are vvery expensive tires but you get what you pay for.

100% agreed. Only I would go with a Berk Intake with Frankencar midpipe. It's cheaper and better IMO. Plus I'd find a way to add a cheap amp and 10" sub too.....

I know how you feel Kloogy...I spent more than that on my wheels, NOS, and navigation system (aftermarket) seperatly, but I also don't have a Vette in my driveway..

Are you talkin about what you want or what Boots should get? He's got two 10's already and an amp. If you look at Boots' sig, his audio setup is complete.

As for your mods Boots, why not try the new Injen CAI? I believe it's around $225-230 at http://www.adventon.com or the whole berk/frankencar hybrid is good too, about $100 cheaper. I think first, if you're not getting new rims anytime soon, get some new tires like everyone is mentioning. The stock RE92 Potenzas are crap, I'm pretty sure you've noticed. Then like mpc578 said, FTSB, RSB, springs, and shocks. Since you're worried about warranty issues, go with tires, FTSB, and RSB first. It would be pretty hard for those to void your warranty.

theres no Y pipe for the 2k2 yet (counting the days til it is), but cats and a hks N1 dual exhaust are cool, add in a Injen CAI (by far the best out there for the 2k2) and you'll be golden on some bolt-on hp increasing mods. Front strut bar and sway bar are great too! But i would get new rubber before springs and stuts (eventually get them though). A good value are the Sumitomos and the Khumos, this month's Sport Compact Car has a review of most the performance tires out there, so that pretty good reference.
