Bought Tires... Riped off?

I bought 18x7.5 5-114.3 (45s) Konig Tantrum rims with 235/40ZR-18 Kumho ECSTA SUPRA 712s... Total with fees, lugs and 4 free replacements (certificate) was $1712.27

Did I get ripped off or get anything the wrong size?

Check Discount Tire, Victoria Tire, and Washington Tire for prices.

Eek! Whalen Tire has that package mounted and shipped to your door for $1300 WITH tire replacements. You went to Discount Tire, right? They rape you if you go in the store.....

I really dont want o burst your bubble by telling you the deal I was able to get, so i wont even bother posting. Just one thing, you could be rolling on a much better wheel than a Konig, in a 8 inch width for a lot less. If you wanted 19's..well I wont even say anymore.. Take your time and shop around next time, and ask ORG members .

so obviously you can get a better deal... can you return them? There might be a restocking fee, but if that's less than the difference you'll save, return them!

and if they refuse, try this (worked for me but not with tires). The tires must be unused:

1. ship the tires with return receipt
2. call your credit card (you used a CC, right?) and dispute the charge... tell the CC people you returned the tires
3. wait.

One of a two things will happen. Hopefully nothing will happen. Or, you'll get a call from the tire people threatening to sue. It's a threat. Also, you have a signature from an employee of their store showing the tires were returned.

Good luck.

Actually I bought from America's Tire Company and they ordered them (4 day wait)... I put a $200 deposit in (credit card) and was going to call them and ask them if I could cancel, but atm they are closed.

Think they will allow this? And if they do, do you think they'll just keep the deposit (who gives a **** i can get it ALOT cheaper from Whalen).

Kloogy, I don't want 19s because of ride quality and road noise, but what 18" would you recommend? I can buy 18x8 Konigs with the same size tire (good?) for $500 cheaper then what I payed for... Anything better?

ebay!!!

i am looking for konig myself and i have been watching ebay. go to auto parts and put in konig rims. the ones you got were going for betweeen 500-600 for the 4 rims alone. plus 50 shipping. not bad at all. but i like the rims you got. i was looking at the verdicts. it seems like everyone has the tantrums and the verdicts. they must be good rims. well burn up those tires and try to get them replace so you can get your $$$ worth.

did you SIGN anything that says they can keep your deposit if you cancel the order? If so... you might be SOL.

If not, cancel the order and if they try to keep your deposit tell them you're going to dispute the charge and the card will never pay. They'll get ****ed, but (a lot of people don't know this) if the CC company gets too many disputed charges from a company, they'll up the rates or cancel them altogether so they can't take credit any more (pretty much putting them out of business). Companies don't like disputed charges so expect some yelling, but in the end they'll tell you to never do business with them again.

I'd still call your CC company anyway to make sure the charge doesn't hit, but I think you have 90 days to dispute it (don't quote me on that).

but does the agreement include "nonrefundable deposit on all special orders"?

if not, you don't owe no matter what they say.

edit: and it must be noted on the agreement you SIGNED, not on some sign on the wall.

At least on the paper they gave me it doesn't say that... But they did have me sign a seperate paper for the deposit... Even if I can't get the deposit back I don't mind, just don't want to me stuck with the wheels!

Can they "MAKE" my pay all of it? hehehe

No, they can't make you pay for all of it.

If it's not on the paper they gave you, you don't have to pay the deposit. Even if they gave you two 'receipts', one for the deposit and one for the balance, as long as it doesn't say

And "if you don't mind" giving away $200, IM me and I'll give you my home address. Heck, for $200 I'd even be willing to do the fighting for you. Just IM me your credit card number and mother's maiden name .

Seriously, if the words "nonrefundable deposit on all special orders" (or something to that effect) aren't on the thing you signed, you don't owe any money.

Talk to cobymoby. He can get RH Evos, Racing Harts, and Volks... I got mine for $239/each, but some of the RH Evos were cheaper...

Konigs are not bad- just VERY common. And if the wheels aren't on your car, you should be able to cancel the order. Give them a sob story. You got fired, etc, etc...

Semi related question- Im looking into getting some wheels, and was curious.. What do the 2003 17' Titanium package finished wheels weigh? Or, what do the 03 17' wheels weigh in general ?

Anyone know?

18" RH evos. Silver with machined lip. No tires. A local shop wanted $299/wheel.

If you want a good wheel, you've gotta pay more (which isn't that much to be honest). I'm tired of cheap knockoffs.

I called them... Heres the dialog:

Me: Hi... Yesterday I bought 4 rims, I need to cancel that order.

Them: Ok. Did you place a deposit or anything

Me: Ya. $200.

Them. Ok, come down and we'll cancel that for you.

Ok. I can now look around again.

excellent, and don't forget to keep them in mind when price-shopping next time. You also might consider telling them why you cancelled the order and see if they'll drop their price.

Konig Tantrum 18x8 (+40mm Offset)
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712s

$1340 shipped

Good? And correct offset and tire size (best tire size?) for a 02 SE Maxima?

I was able to get 18x8 Enkei RPM2 rims and Toyo Proxes T1s 245/40/18 out the door of my local Belle Tire for $1650. Just a point of reference for you.

A 245/40/18 is your best bet if you want to maintain speedometer accuracy.

You're likely to be safer than I am. 35mm is pushing it. I'll know for sure when I go to the shop next week and they put 'em on. (I'm waiting for the rims to come in.)
