Ever acidently shift into 3rd?

I drive with my right hand on the the shifter of my 2K2 gated automagic, and sometime when I make a sharp right turn the shifter goes into the "3" slot! Does this happen to you guys too?

Yes, I notice it shifts when I have my hand on the shifter. I think the gate was made for a quick OVER DRIVE shift mode.

I usually acidently shift in to neutral, 2kauto, and squeak the tires shifting back in to drive, embarassing as hell.

Just let the RPMs go back down to idle level, and then slip it back into drive. No excessive wear on the gears, no screeching the tires.
