What'd u do?

I went to the shopping mall with my son tonight. On our way back, I was just cruising along in my 2K2 Max SE, following the traffic flow on the left lane of a 3 lanes street. It is a busy street just off a big shopping mall. I noticed that there was this Integra Type R, which was behind us, getting in and out to pass other cars. It ended up charging behind me, moved into the left turn lane and attempted to pass me illegally. Even though I was not speeding at all, the driver of the Integra did not catched up to me until we came to a major intersection. He barely had enough room to swerve back into my lane and passed me, not without hitting the curb and fishtailed a bit.

In my mind, I said, what an idiot! Because I could have downshift / speed up and blocked his way back in. He would have ended up in either 1) a panic stop in a busy intersection, looking like a fool because he had no room to go 2) try to make a 90 deg left turn at about 70mph 3) went straight through into the sidewalk if he couldn't stop 4) HIT me in an attempt getting back into the lane. Of coz, I would not risk to have him hit me, especially with my 5 years old in the back seat, so I let him go. I just have no idea why people would drive so recklessly to gain a tiny advance on the street. He could have killed himself or seriously damaged his beloved Type R in pulling a stupid stunt like this.

I just wonder, if you were me, what would you do? BTW, my last car was a 98 Integra Type R. I know what that car can do or can't do.

I also agree that you made the best decision especially considering that your 5yr old was with you. Good decision.

It's not worth "teaching" that guy a lesson when you or your youngster may end up suffering for. I wonder how many times a V6 Honda/Acura or a GTP think they beat me when I let them pass me. Of course, the baby seat in the back should tell them not to bother me but some still do.

Kudos to you! You stayed out of harms way, plus you would have been a good witness if he would have crashed into something/someone.

Spy Hunter oil slick.......

j/k. I would have thrown some expletives his way and told him to f off. But there's no way I would risk an accident with my kid in the car- not worth it.

But if I did have a 5 year old, I would be P!SSED that someone was driving like that with him in my car and putting him at risk. If it was a teenage punk, I might get out of the car at the next light, and try to drag him out of his car. But I'm crazy like that.... You don't wanna get shot or anything.

Good call.

No kid and a car that didn't mean to much to me, I'd a pinched him and he'd be looking at one of your other options. But it sounds like there was to muck congestion though.

You made the right move. Your sons safty first, then you, then bystanders & him last. He still coulda hit the curb harder and lost it and you'da been testing your ABS and maybe got rear ended. To bad there were no cops around.

My $.02

You did the right thing regardless of whether your son was in the car. There are plenty of crazy people on the road. Getting into it with these people is dangerous. You never know what kind of person you are going to be dealing with. Better to let them go and out of your way. Honking, etc. is not going to teach them anything.

if it was me and my kid was in the car,
I'd definitely chill and let the guy pass.

On the other hand....if I was alone...
I'd teach the guy a lesson
