Transmission service?

When should an auto trans service be done on a 2001 AE? The manual doesn't say that I can find.
Also for the coolent it says at 60K then every 30K after that? Why not the first 30K, or why not every 60K?

I would get the transmission fluid flushed and refilled every 30k miles... I don't think the tranny fluid lasts much past 30k or so...

ATF flushes

I completly flush (not just pan drop) ATF on my Q every 18 months or 18,000 miles whichever comes first.

Nissan trannies can be among the longest lasting trannies out there, even when abused !IF!, you flush them often with a premium ATF and add a tranny cooler.
Fluids are a lot cheaper than trannies.

Actually it's also a VERY good idea to do your first tranny flush within only 8,000-10,000 miles of new.
That way the broken down clutch material from wear-in doean't get a chance to deposit too easily.

Fred...

PS: The "filter-screens" that the dealer says don't need to be replaced and supposedly get cleaned by a flush... REPLACE them, they DO NOT get cleaned by a flush!

Try this at home: pan drop and filter replacment, "filter/screen" looks nice and clean on the outside, would pass any so-called inspection.

Now cut it open, it full of broken down clutch material. There are cases known of trannies slipping due to low line pressure, guys getting ready to buy new tranny, ...put in new filter, VOILA! tranny runs fine again ... "lifetime" filterscreen was not so lifetime after all...

Is there a procedure out on dropping the pan on a 2002? I'm guessing it is the same but would like to see something with pics plus part numbers for the gaskets/bolts/etc. Thanks!

go to mobiletek.net and download DOn's vb remove guide.....just do the first part and take off the tranny pan. Make sure u remove the bolt to drain most of the fluid first.

I did it this way and drain out most of the ATF...prob just have a little left in the torque converter.
