Has anyone used a OBD2 scanner on there 02-03?
Hello guys I know the 2000-01 owners have had suscess using the OBD2 scaner tool but I have yet to hear any reports on it being used on a 02-03? Does anyone have it for there 2002 or 2003? If so could you please let me know your thoughts on it? If anyone else knows anything about this please let me know. I am having some power loss issues with my car and I want to get to the bottom if it
I have a friend that owns a shop and I have used his scanner to read codes, and clear them, and look at some of the readings while running down the road. He has a Snap-On scanner. But he's firmware is only up to 2000. It still gives you the code numbers and shows a lot of data.
I have read some posts from people on the org that have the www.obd-2.com unit hooked up to their PC. I believe they had some problems with the connection in regards to port speed and data loss. But I think there is a solution. Do a search. With this 1 the software is free (downloadable) and you pay for the connector/wire harness.
I have also been looking at www.autotap.com. With this one you get connector/wire harness and software as a package but you have the option of getting the software with "Manufacturer's Enhanced Parameters", which I think would be useful. I take that back it looks like the software is downloadable here also. (Much bigger file! 13.7mb) I'll download this when I get home from work. I don't know about the "Manufacturer's Enhanced Parameters" with this though. Over all this one looks like a better product, the company support looks good too.
Either way you will need something portable to connect to, i.e. a laptop, so you can get the data your looking for. Also check this site out www.obdii.com lots of good info. As time goes by there is more and more stuff on the net about OBD2. I just wonder if there will ever be a way to hack the ECU
I don't have a laptop yet and that’s what’s holding me back.
Good luck whichever way you go and keep us posted with your progress.
