Hi folks,

After posting my web write-up, I have gotten so many emails regarding the Injen cold-air intake, with many questions. I have tried to answer the questions as best as I can - some of you asked for a few additional pictures of the intake from some different angles, which I have tried to oblige.

The updated write-up, with more pics is now available on my web site (click link at left). I hope this answers the additional questions.

I will be working on a simple home-built ram-air for the Injen, which anyone will be able to do. This should provide a direct airflow to the filter element, without allowing any road dirt or by-products into the engine compartment. When I get to this I will of course post a complete how-to of what I did, so you fine folks can take the best of my ideas and modify/adapt them to suit your own needs.

That was an excellent write up and the pic from under the filter is very cool too.

 

I got the black hose from a local auto parts store. It's just a 15mm heater hose, cut to length (16 inches). It cost me 3 bucks, and I already had the clamp.

 

In your write up you said that lowend torque was not affected. After logging some miles, is this still the case?

 

In answer to the question regarding low-end torque, I still cannot tell any difference (ie: loss) after several hundred miles with the intake. It had so much torque to begin with, it would probably be hard to tell anyway... I will keep it in mind and continue monitoring, but likely I will just get used to the car *with* the intake. Regardless, there is absolutely nothing noticeably regarding low-end torque decrease. If anything the car feels more responsive to the throttle...

 

In this pic there are two more tiny hoses attached to the same box (just below) where the breather line goes.

I don't see them in the after pics with the Injen CAI installed. I see only the breather line. Where are they connected now?

GregP, I thought the filter was protected by the undercar piece. Are you cutting a hole in that, or are you getting a ram-air from the front of the car? Also why'd you change the red hose?

 

The filter is protected by the engine undercover piece, but you can modify it such that it lets in air directly in front of the filter.

I got rid of the red hose because I thought it looked incongruous in the engine compartment. All of the hoses should be one color (IMO) and that's black.

There is only one hose connected to the intake, and that is the breather hose. Not sure what other hoses are being referred to.

Keep in mind that the 2K2 that greg has installed is different than the 2K/2K1 like yours woosh. Check out my site if you want to see the Injen on the VQ30. There are three breather lines and all are connected on top of the middle Injen pipe.

The connections all makes sense now! I just assumed the 2k2 had the same number of breather lines and the other sensor in front of the filter.

Does anyone know why 2K/2K1 has an additional sensor? Whats it for? How did they get rid of it on the 2K2?

Does anyone know how nissan on the 2k2 eliminated 2 breather lines? 2k2 has 1 breather line
2k/2k1 has 3 breather lines.
