I blew away an I4 4 door Honda Accord while driving a 300ZX TT.

Going down 880 I see this Accord approaching fast because a motorcycle cop just got off the freeway. When he passes me, I decide to follow him in another lane after driving the posted speed limit of 65 (he wasn't going that much faster... probably around 75).

About 1/2 mile later, he cuts into my lane and stays about 2 car lengths ahead of me. I change over to the lane he came from, moved up next to him so we're bumper-to-bumper, downshifted to 3rd (yes, I was driving a manual), and mashed the pedal. I shifted into 4th at redline (feels good to have that ability) and left him.

The poor soul didn't even have a chance. I slowed down so he can catch up, but he tried to do a ricer fly-by on me. Curious as to how fast I would pull on him in 4th, I just mashed the pedal. He cut over to the right and exited about 1/4 mile later.

He had something that looked like an A'PEXi N1 muffler

To keep this Maxima related, DAVEB called and told me the passenger side LSD axle came. We just need to decide on the shipping.

On a different note, someone confirm what is exactly a ricer fly by? I have an idea but I just need to get a firm answer from other peeps.
Who determines WHO does the ricer fly by? Who differentiates between what is and what is not a ricer flyby?

What if I was just in a hurry and along comes this TL-S and initiates a race and I don't think any of it. He puts in a couple of carlengths after lining up with me and then here I come just going fast in a hurry and passes him. Is that a ricer fly by?

I've been in a couple of situations when some punks do this and try to race and I just don't waste my gas them. Then I pass them going fast a little while later. Hopefully that's not a RFB

 

It's when the other car that's playing catch-up, blows by you at a very fast rate (basically what you said) after you slow down. Sometimes they even throw a hazard lights and think they won.

What you did can be considered ricer fly-bys.

Both cars "feel" about the same. The turbos hit hard when they're spooled... the SC has a linear power progression until redline.

Axle should be in tomorrow.
