Re: Is there any difference in speed between 2k2gxe and 2k2 se

Not if the SE is an Auto. And the SE has no options, and the GXE has fog lights and a spoiler. If the the SE's suspension adds any weight, which I don't think it does, then in theory the GXE could be "faster." I don't know about wheel weight of 17" vs. 16", etc, but I am going too far already.

In summary, not if the SE is Auto. (2K2 GXE not available with 6-spd)

Oh, wait, I don't know about everyone else, but my SE lettering on the trunk adds 5hp. I have heard a good coat of Zaino is worth another 10 mph top speed due to decreased drag.

i put money that a stock GXE can beat an SE auto

less weight, and 16" rims instead of 17"

Really? Do you mean GXE vs. SE with no options? I guess you are right about the wheel weight, but as far as 2K2s go I did not think there was much weight diff. other than wheels. Not that I am bothered by this, I am just surprised. I don't seriously race anyone, and I suck at driving anyway so it wouldn't surprise me if a '98 Altima GXE could beat me.

GXE's have always been faster because of less options (= less weight) and smaller wheels (= less unsprung weight).

You can't get a manual in the GXE's anymore, so you're right. But of all the 02+ automatics (GXE, SE auto, GLE auto only), the GXE will be the quickest. Not by much, though.

Wheels and spoiler aside, what makes the GXE that much lighter than a stripped SE?

For the 2k2's GXE production has decreased quite dramatically and the SE has become more of the basic Maxima (although with certain options can be made as loaded as a GLE) I, have never even seen a 2k2 GXE myself.

Though only 5% of 2K2 Maxima production is the GXE model, I actually saw one this past weekend.

Rev-limiter would be the same, but a lower speed limiter is quite possible. I'm not sure which exact tires it has, but they're likely to be lower speed-rated tires than what the SE's get.

LOL, rare indeed. I've only seen 1 or 2 02+ GXE's. I've seen 3 or 4 new Ford Thunderbirds. That just goes to show how "rare" the GXE models really are

2k2 GXEs

Yeah, that are kinda rare. I own one.

The dealer I bought from (in Fife, WA) got one from a dealer in Oregon. The two other dealers I went to when I was shopping for one didn't have GXEs.

More recently, a few months ago I did a see 2K2 GXE at Pacific Nissan in the lot and another time I went I either saw another or the same one.
