Okay, my friend and I were arguing about something and I was hoping some of you 5th gen guys could clear this up for me. My friend insists that there was a 6 speed manual transmission available (as well as the 5 speed manual and 4 spd Auto trannys) on either the 2000 or 2001 Maxima. I tried to tell him that it is only available on a 2002 SE, but he just won't listen. Am I right or are there 6 speed non 2k2 5th gens out there? Thanks

Okay I have another question: I want to know exactly how the trims stack up: SE-available in 4 speed auto or 6 speed manual transmission, GLE- 4 speed auto only, GXE-4 speed auto only as well. Is the rare GXE still offered with a manual transmission? Thanks

I don't have the link to it anymore, but I looked at it and it gave the specs for a 2000-2001 Maxima, but then it said it was info for a 2002.

 

 

Well actually there is a 6spd 2001 maxima I have one just bought it off craigslist

Maybe the trans was made in 2001 and released in 2002 maxima ... that's another theory

It's a 2001 white se all I know is it has six gears on my shifter and it's the same as my 01 automatic in every way it has the vq30de-k motor not the 3.5

anyways my '03 has a 7spd DCT, very rare option

Is yours the 20th Anniversary Edition? I believe the 20th AEs were available with a 6 speed back in '01, if I'm not mistaken. The guy I just bought my '01 5spd. from said his friend has one while discussing the rarity of 6 spd. Maximas.
