rear end hop

I have a 2002 maxima se (6 speed) and am having an awful time with the rear end hopping around whenever I go over a bump. It's bad enough that the car is very unstable when it happens. How can a manufacturer create a car with so much power and then give it such horrible handling!! It's unsafe!
Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion to resolve this problem?? I used to have a '92 maxima se...it had an independent rear. ...god bless the beam...

The hop is due to the fact that we dont have independent rear suspension.

There is a link in the 4th Gen FAQ thread about it.

Buy an Altima. Or some shocks/RSB might help too...

you could try a RSB, and it would keep your bumps alittle more controlled. But then you'd need to consider than you may not be able to feel when the backend is getting loose and about to break free. Its a definate improvement, but you cant drive ***** out stupid with it or you'll smack a guard rail or curb.

This may sound weird

but I noticed the hop minimized a bit when I made the rear tire pressure 1/2 - 1 PSI more than the front.

Now that the weather is getting cooler the front PSI only seem to increase about 1/2 PSI so the rear pressure is only 1/2 PSI more.

33.5 front
34.0 rear
This is just my personal observation, hope it helps
