Removed that POS wind deflector, now need help!!

I finally removed my POS defective wind deflector (with all the cracks in it) from my 2k2 SE. (I also removed my vent visors along the windows and they are for sale for the best offer if anyone is interested).

My problem is (as Im sure you all know), where the deflector was, left this nasty mark on the car where the rubber seal was. I cant tell if its scratched or its just something that can be buffed out all the way around.

Were any of you guys who removed your deflector able to get that mark around the sunroof away??? Any suggestions would be helpful.

(btw, I think it looks much better without the wind deflector and vent visors now...).
thanks.

I did that too and I'm trying to figure out how to clean the black mark off my silver paint.

Also, did you have painted tape where the mounting clips were?

I have a silver car too, so thank goodness no one will really notice to bad, except me of course!!

I did have the painted tape but was able to get that off with no problem.

Yes

I did this on my '95 max.
1. Hose the car off to get rid of any loose debri
2. wash the car, and pay special attention to the area where the
marks are.
3. Use Meguiars #1 cleaner wax.
4. Use Meguiars #3 carnuba wax.

This worked for me on my '95, but I have not done it yet to the '02. How is the wind noise when the sunroof is open without the wind deflector being there?????

Hope this helps.

peace

Many of us have not been able to get rid of the scratches/abrasions since they have actually marred the clear coat. A professional buff out MIGHT help, but I would be hesitant to have any of the already crappy paint removed by buffing.

I took my Maxima to the Nissan dealership and their detail guy got about 60% of the deflector mark off with a power buffer. Overall he did a crummy job. His buffing left some scratches and swirl marks. I was able to eliminate more of the deflector mark and some of the scratches and swirls with repeated applications of Scratch-X. Far from perfect but good enough that I just left it as is. The residual scratches aren't noticeable unless the sunlight hits the roof just right.

I got mine off soon after buying...only some sticky residual stuff there that came off with some GOO GONE and elbow grease...no marks...i replaced it though with a ventshade brand stick on deflector so i can't see the spots anymore anyways!
