.....that damn MAF failure scare is keeping me from getting the INJEN CAI. I figure I can wait for the NISMO version and not worry about the failure B.S.
It's also dang expensive to replace.

Can "turning radius" be considered a part? If so, please scratch my vote for suspension and we'll go with that.

This should be fun. I didn't include "paint" or "tires" because we all know that would skew the results.

For all of those complaining about your max, I have an instant cure. Go rent a car from Hertz. You will probably get stuck with a Mercury Sable, if you're lucky. I have been out of town for only a couple of days now, but I really miss my car.
BTW I stick my vote in for the trunk hinge design. Can't believe they still stick into the trunk so bad.

I would have to say my Auto tranny, which after 2 years of problems and 1.5 weeks in the shop (THIS TIME). I get to wait another week for it just to get here from Jacksonville FL (the only nissan distributer that has the LSD auto in the US) before I get my car back.
I would have to say the "Swiss Cheese" paint job as my 2nd choice though.

1. Can I say the 17 x 7 wheels? Styling is fine, size is terrible.
2. Side glass weatherstripping that doesn't squeegee the water off, puts streaks back on already dry windows when you lower & raise them again instead.
My '87 Max used to disassemble its transmission input shaft bearing on roughly a 50,000 mile schedule. 3 times in all. That means in about 30k I get to find out if Nissan has managed to fix that problem (or at least has on a statistical basis).

OOOH, i vote that d*** turn radius! i seriously think a school bus driver was laughing at me the other day as i did a 3-point U turn!
i have to agree with Maxima Dan, tho. we're pretty spoiled overall. drive a Ford or something for a day, and revel in the flimsy plastics, ill-fitted body panels and just general substandard build quality, and you'll love your Maxima even more. driving a rental car really restores the 'big picture' for ya. it's not that other cars *completely* suck, but little things (like the material the dash is made out of, or how the window and lock buttons feel) really make our Max's great machines, despite some (well-noted) exceptions.

The plastic trunk tensioner bar clip that I have gone thru 6 of them in 3 years , granted it is only a $3 piece but it makes such a rattle when it is missing/broken and the dealers don't always have the POS in stock...I wish someone would mill a steel block in the same shape...
