I called the nissan dealer to ask if they got nissan coolant cause I wanna do a flush tomorrow...they said they have anti-freeze in stock which is the same thing as coolant & goes for $13.99 gallon. is this true...anti-freeze & coolant the same thing???

 

Coolant could be just plain water. But, typically, coolant and anti-freeze coolant are one in the same. Just ask for "anti freeze coolant". :-)

be careful not to pour any on the ground....anitfreeze/coolant is deadly to animals but some reason the little four legged critters like to drink it

are you serious its deadly to animals....cause me & my cousin just drained his car & poured the used anti-freeze in the street...i thought it just as safe as water...:'confused:

 

most definatly it's harmful to animals...it should say so on the bottle somewhere....

once you start running over dead cats and dogs in front of your house it'll make sense to you

where ever you poured it at pour 4 times the amount of water to dilute it......or imma snitch and tell the animal channel about you lol

It's not uncommon for alcoholics to poison themselves when they try to drink anti-freeze. The most famous case was Dukakis' wife several years ago.

 

1 drop can kill a full grown lab 70lbs. Trust me i know. There was a tiny spill in the driveway, and i missed a few spots. Dog came over and licked it once before i could get him away from it. Died that day.

On the upside, remember you need to have a 50/50 mix of coolant to water. When you buy the coolant(anti-freeze), it will not be premixed unless stated on the bottle. Your whole maxima system should take no more than 2 gallons. I honestly reccommend taking it into the dealership, just for the fact that they have all the tools necessary to dispose of all the chemicals.

Actually, it could very well tast like kool-aid. Antifreeze is usually made from Ethylene Glycol and it's actually quite sweet to taste. This is why it's dangerous to keep around if you have pets because they are attracted to it and like the taste.

And for those with a morbid sense of curiosity Ethylene Glycol has a lowest published lethal concentration of 786 mg/kg in humans. As a comparison Clorox (Sodium Hypochlorate, aka Bleach) has a lowest published lethal concentration of 1000 mg/kg. Note that your everyday Clorox Bleach from the store is only 6% Clorox. So Anti-freeze is roughly 25 times more poisonous than that bottle of bleach sitting beside your washing machine.

You really poured it in the street??? Please take your car in for all service from now on. Every liquid in your car is poison and needs to be disposed of properly.

 

 

The good news is there should now be no rats in the sewers around your house. The bad news is if your sewer leads to a creek or river near your house.

Even if it's not the dealer take your car to a shop for a radiator flush.
