Can DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluid be mixed without any problems?

I would not do it. unless you like getting dirty changing
your brake fluid often.

Yes DOT 3 and DOT 4 are fully compatible. It's DOT 5 that shouldn't be mixed with either one.
