I have had mine painted red for about 6 months now. Walking out to my car today, I realized that they look totally ricey.

Should I go black? Or silver?

Also, should I attempt to strip the coat of red off or just paint over it?

I'd go black. I'm going to do black on my ride (but the body is black, too) I think silver would kinda wash out against the rotors. Not sure about stripping the red...how many coats did you put on? Is the red still in good shape? If it is, I'd suggest cleaning them up really good and apply another color.

I would say Silver, and just paint two coats over the current paint.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There are two-three coats of red (with epoxy) on there, so I think they will act as a good primer for the silver. Black sounds cool, but silver sounds more stock looking.

did you use hardener after you painted? If so, you should rough up as much as you can... light sandpaper... very light just to get the top coat a little more willing to hold the first coat of the new paint.

I used the foliatec stuff that hardens with the paint. Then I intermittently touched up without the hardener. I should be okay.

I'd go with Silver, that would match your wheels well. And damn asu, you're tint if f***ing dark! Looks nice!

Andy, Andy, Andy...STAY RED!

Red is the best color. Going black will just be too dark to ever really accent the caliper.
Silver will blend in with the rotor and will not look good with the white color of your car.
When you painted the calipers 6 months ago you did it because you wanted them to stand out...? Correct? Stay with the only true color that shows those calipers off. If you change it you will regret it. Just my two cents.

Don't stay red! It isn't just a coincidence that pmas76 has red painted calipers and he thinks you should stay red. and that happens to be the ONLY thing I don't like on his ride. I'm not dissing you, pmas. Your car looks great.

I say to stay red because I think if you are going to paint your calipers you should do it with the best color available. Yeah, it is my opinion and all, but I looked at plenty of other cars with different color combo's and I feel red is the best color available.
And tell remark on your other comment about... Whether it be spring choices, Intakes, Strut bars, etc...Everyone with slight exception recomends people to go with the same that they themselve went with. I know your not "dissing" me but it is just obvious that I would recomend the color if that's what i went with.

I have red calipers, black max silver 18 RH c3 and xdrilled rotors. I love them and I dont think they look rice. Very subtle but looks clean, and It brings out my rims and rotors. Thats my .02 I can't preach this enough ASU174 go with what YOU like. It's your car. Good luck

So Porsches have red calipers does that mean it looks ricey? I see no point in painting something silver that already is silver! What a waste of time. Like someone is going to notice and say "wow those calipers look nice". They won't notice the difference.

this was my original point. You obviously painted them red for a reason. Always go with your first instinct.

Because I thought it would look like Porsche brakes/big brake kits. Instead they just look like painted stock calipers.

Plus the red keeps getting dingy and I am tired of cleaning them off once a month.

Yeah, i hear ya with the whole changing mind thing and all. If you feel that silver will make you happy then i'm all for it. As long as you are happy; that is all that really matters. Post pics and write-up of how you painted over/removed old paint. Just in case I change my mind in six months.

I like RED. Brembo makes RED calipers on S class Benzes, and as you said , porsches have them . I've seen many exotics with them too. Civics look retarted because they paint those tiny soap bar calipers red and their ridiculous brake drum in the rear red. Thats ricey, but then again, anything honda , is ricey...

Not yet. But they will be RED in the near future...
