R34 Shifter in 2k2/2k3 6spd

This might be crazy, but maybe worth exploring... rather than waiting for someone to fabricate a STS for the 6spd, might it be worth exploring using the shifter from the R34 6spd?

Forgive me if this is completely obsurd, I really don't know much about what's involved in a STS setup.

Welcome to Nissan!

I seem to remember someone saying our shifter is new for the Max, which would rule out it's use on the R34.

We do have the same shift **** as the R34 though! Not that that means anything...

I hope you're not laughing at me...I don't keep tabs on cars in other countries... I have been following the Maxima since it's birth. At any rate, I know what the Skyline is, just didn't remember R34.

Somebody has already used the **** from one. The shifter linkage itself will be completely different from the R34 to the Maxima, so I don't see how you could use it (Cable Shift FWD, Direct Linkage (im assuming) AWD). Someone on altimas.net made a short throw, maybe you could try searching or asking over there.

Am I correct in believing that Steve @ Frankencar is attempting to develop one? I saw mention of it in another thread, but was unable to find a source to the rumor.

Steve?

The short throw from the Altima will not fit. Different linkage. The Z is a possible fit. I am waiting to find out on that one. Personally I would prefer to put the Z shifter in, but not sure it will work.

I heard that our Tranny is the same from the R-34 (in design), but I am sure the linkages will not dirrectly fit. Then again, who has actually tried.

don't also forget that Skyline is a right-hand steering, which means it can have linkages setup differently, but again, who knows
