Yup, shouldn't be more than $10 for a patch (not plug). They remove the tire. Make sure you ask if they have the type of tire machine that won't scratch your rim and make sure they re-align the red dot on the tire back in the same place on the rim.
I got a nail before. Now I make sure and tell my six "don't pick up any nails each time b4 I drive"

If you have the inclination, try plugging it yourself. You can get a tire plug/patch kit at various places. The kits vary in quality. I've fixed 3 nails/screws myself, but a few weeks ago, I had a Mobil gas station fix the latest one. It was a small nail in a bad location. He only charged $5.

As long as it's not on the sidewall...

It's happened on more than one occasion for me. One time, I had it right between the sidewall and tread and had to pay $175 for a new tire. The worst part was that I had just bought the New Tire/Wheel package 3 days earlier!
there may be damage on the inside that a plug won't fix and you won't know, and it could lead to a blowout.
There are local (state) laws about this, too. For instance, it's illegal in Maine to use a plug... the tire *must* be removed and inspected for damage on the inside, then it must be patched.

Why patch instead of plug? I have Nitto NT555s and I got a nail straight into the tire. I was at a shop at the time and they removed the nail and plugged it will a piece of rubber and glue. That was 3 months ago, tire still works fine.
