1st time at the track!
1st time at the track!
I went to the track for the first time in my life tonight!
Damn...that was fun...I'm still kinda shakin'...it was good.
Anyways, it was an 1/8th mile track, and it was Import/Sport Compact night. Lots of fun. Lots of oddities.. Still good all in all.
I got in 7 runs, and wouldn't ya know it, very first time (ever) down the track yields my best run of the night:
9.953 E.T @ 72.068 MPH
For that run, I kept it in D, and turned the VDC off. My reaction time sucked because I was more focused at looking at what I needed to do rather than beat the guy next to me. In any case, I beat him anyway.
I raced an old Nissan Truck (beat him bad) and a Civic and an old VW 4 door (not sure what it was) and beat them both badly too. My only losses for the night were to a Sport Bike (duh) and a Honda Civic hatchback. Now before you freak out (I know I would have too), I should have realized something about this Civic before I lined up. The guy was wearing a helmet, and had drag slicks that barely fit under the fenders. Then, when he did his burn out..I heard the turbo
He beat me pretty bad actually. But I still did better than pretty much every other civic/integra/prelude out there. I ran consistent 10.1-10.6's other than my 9.9 run.
I seemed to be getting a heck of a lot wheelspin down the majority of the track. Especially when I left in in "3" and stomped it. Is there a good way to defeat this? I thought about powerbraking but I was afraid of the stress I might put on the brakes or transmission doing that.
Ahh it was so fun.
