Condisdering the car was $32K new, thats a good price, and the way I shop, I take 3K right off the sticker. so this car for 20-21K is still a good price to be loaded.

And Kelly Blue Book is what rules the world. Not what the original MSRP is. Asking price on that car shouldn't be any higher than $22,000. Especially since 2K2s have a bigger engine. I wouldn't pay anything over $19,000 for that car.
Kelly Blue book is a joke, So is NADA.. IN the real world, Area/Loation drives the cars value NOT Any Books. I go to Dealer Auctions to purchase cars. Trust me, Dealers don't use NADA/KBB .. We Use the black book, which the public knows next to nothing about.
2002 May be a bigger engine for $23,000, but thats a base Car. This car is fully loaded..
Also, New govt stats for Drivers are 15,000 Miles a year, considering we are at the end of 2002 tells me this car is about right with his miles.
3000 off the sicker of this car is a fair starting price. Me, Myself, I'ld start at 19,500.. considering you can take 2500 of on a brand new car. If you can't do that, perhaps you better learn how to haggle with dealers....
You can say I deal with this stuff almost daily so I know a thing or 2 about car buying.

It sounds like we are on the same page. You first post lacked the "insight" of the negotiation and it looked as though you were calling the sticker a good price. If someone actually paid $23,500 for that car thay would be getting raped.
And I buy a lot of cars too.....
KBB is a great tool to help sell your car. Edmunds is a great tool to buy one.

That's also a lot of miles to be put on in one year. I know it's dependent on driving regiment and conditions, but I have a 2K and I don't even have that many miles on my car.

Even in Honolulu (actually all of Oahu), the area is 597 square miles (or an average of 20 miles x 30 miles).

I myself drive a rather modest 24 miles each way to work (so in 2 days I have driven completely around the island).

I didn't realize that it's up to 15,000 miles/year now. That's a lot for us. I think I have about that much on my car..hehe.

That's true, although, I'm sure only a handful of people commute over 50 miles one way to work each day. My dad drives about 40 miles to work and back each day, so he puts major mileage on his car, but under normal circumstances, you can't really drive that far on Oahu. The Big Island is another story though.

All the folks here, Don't forget thats a AE... Not a washed down SE
I agree with PIONEER, Kbb and NADA values are a joke, they differ so much between themselves it's not even funny. Edmunds's online appraisals are also very inaccurate. Best thing is to ask the pros, such as the dealers in the Edmunds forums, or look at the black book values, which are updated much more frequently. FYI, black book values on most cars are available for free online, just have to look a bit.
