Spinning Wheels

Not that I or most Maxima owners would purchase such a thing, but I was wondering from an acceleration stand point what kind of effect these wheels would have. There seem to be a lot of people knowledgeable in the unsprung weight affecting performance, I thought maybe someone would know what the extra spinning part of the wheel would do with its momentum and inertia?

ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! GHET---TO!!

RE: performance...since the spinners are part of the wheel, technically they are still unsprung weight. As for the motion, not sure if there would be any positive effects from a 'viscous flywheel' kind of motion...

WEll since the outside part of the rim doesn't spin with the "actual rim". Then I would say that when the entire rim is stopped, then the only rolling mass you would calculate would be the part of the rim that spins with the tire. The engine only has to overcome the inertia of the inside rim, since the outside rim is free to move about(it has very little inertia). I don't think the actual spinning of the outside rim will hurt nor help in any performance senario. The only affect I could see it having, is the the fact that it is heavy as hell and just more unsprung weight. that's my .02...well as much as I could remember from Physics 122 and 221 freshman year at college

"cause I be wayssin' my mOOOOney on da goofy azz Spree wheelz, Bee-zaaaaaach!"-Unknown "rapper".
How could those be considered "racing", and I'll use that term very lightly, wheels? I don't remember seeing Tommi Mackinen drift a corner in Finnland and seeing his tight azz "spreewheels" going all ghetto!.......sorry I just like to poke fun. Gay azz rappers.

Most of the companies, like the one in the pic, Giovannas, just have an adapter that gives it that spinning look. You can basically add that spinner to any wheel now. If you look at superbuytires, its not that all these companies have made a spinning wheel, they have like a cap that has the spinner on it. The ones that are true spinners are basically the Davins.

gotta be careful wid dat spinners...

I dont wanna be close a cars wid these spinners installed...dang spinner could depart from rest of wheel from force of intense 'fan effect' as the thing merrily twirls about...

High speeds = high fan effect.

think the simple folk (like myself) call'em sprewells. they got some official name and a crazy a$$ pricetag. you know what you could do w/ what it'll cost for the rims alone? buy s/c, get some fly (watch out...may come w/ def next) rims, take a nice vacation, ooh..and a nice HDTV around 55 inches. may have enuf to take your girl to fuddrucker's.
