Can someone help with a car dying problem.
I have a 2000 SE with 11500 miles. It has been cold (single digit temps and very negative wind chills) here for the past 3 weeks. However, for the first time, yesterday at lunch I started my car from my work parking lot (open - not a garage), let it warm up for only about a minute. Then when I shifted it into reverse, the RPM's dropped and the car died.
It started and worked fine on the second try.
Today, was a different story. I started my car from my garage this morning, put it in reverse and it died the same way. It took 5 tries before I shifted it into reverse and quickly (with my foot on the brake) pusehed the accelerator to prevent thr RPM's from dropping and then let go and backed down my drive way. I then stopped at the bottom of my street. Put it into park, then put it into reverse again and it was fine. Does anyone know what this could be? Any help or information as always is appreciated.
Thanks.

I had a 1981 Datsun 310 that after one year the motor would cut out shifting to a higher gear. It was never diagnosed, never fixed. I sold it, as it became a highway hazard

My 85 buick does the same thing... but when you shift into any gear on a cold day...
Wouldn't expect this so soon from a 2K nissan, but the quick fix is to let it warm up (30 secs - 1 min), and then drop into gear... if it stalls, put it back to park (auto), or neutral, crank it and go as soon as engine rpms drop (a second or two after engine starts)... (it always works when the buick dies)..
By all means go bother your dealer,,... anyone willing to wager on a "customer's concerns could not be replicated" outcome?? If all else fails, video tape the car dying..
