Maxspeed....today!
Maxspeed....today!
Hey all,
I am finally going to get the Maxspeed installed today. FINALLY! I've had these since the last group deal.
I measured the stock stance (from top of the wheel well to the ground). Front 28" rear 27". I also measured other various places to get some more numbers to compare. I took two pictures, but they are not with a digital camera.
I've read that the average drop is somewhere around 1" front and .75" rear. And also that they may drop more as the springs settle.
I am so excited to finally install them. I've waited because the cheapest price to install at the time was around $400!!! I am getting them installed for $200. Still not cheap, but cheapest so far.
I'll post the results when I get back from the shop today.
Later.

You beat me to it by days 2k2...LOL
I am planning on the same thing (Sat) and hope to include install pics and write-up. I think (brings out a flame-proof umbrella) that the strain on the stock struts comes from cutting the bump stops. From what I have gathered, doing this makes the stock struts travel further than spec and that leads to blown struts. I personally am planning on leaving the bump-stops intact and see what impact it has on rideablity/handling.

DONE!
4 hours later and they are done!
The car dropped 1.25 in front and .75 in rear (so far). The look is awsome. Just what I was looking for. IMO it gives the car a more aggressive appearance without the "slammed" look. It gives the car an even look.
Everyone is right about the "stock-like" ride. It is not harsh. The handling has improved. I noticed that I can take corners a little better than before. The only concern I would have is with it bouncing with a full load of people on the hwy.
Overall I am excited and impressed with the Maxspeed. I love the look, I like the handling and feel.

I also suspect that as the miles add up, the springs and struts may get weaker and softer, thus more floating???
Hope this helps explain.

BTW - nice max. I love that color!

I did the alignment a few weeks after the springs and did the 9 second test on the freeway to see if it was out of alignment and it was dead on! No alignment issues at all. Did you have the isolation sleeves put in during the install?
P.S. I'm still on my stock struts

I did notice that the passenger rear tire looks to be inverted in just a little; the other three looks fine. I will probably go for the alignment in a few weeks if I notice tire wear.
I'm not sure exactly what the isolation sleeves are. The only thing I notice was a grey rubber wrapping that was wrapped around the last, bottom coil. They re-installed this back on. If your referring to a sleeve that covers the entire, or a portion, of the spring; I did not have that to begin with. I did notice that they must have removed the wheel stopper (not sure of the official name). This is the stopper that was put on the 2k2 to reduce the turning radius. I'm not complaining...it was just kinda strange when I had to make a sharp turn and actually didn't have to back up

Reason #1
If your toe is off and your camber is fine, guess what... your car drives straight.
Reason #2
If your camber is off on both sides by approx. the same amount, guess what.... your car drives straight.
Reason #3
If both your toe and camber are off approximately the same on both sides..... guess what.... your car dirves straight.
Don't be fooled into thinking your alignment is OK just because your car drives straight.
