Gas (regular) DILEMA>>>>>
I had my 2k2 Se for about 1 yr and since day one she always gets the best premium but a week ago she got regular for the first time (am broke) premium here is like 1.75 so i had to put the regular for this week but the most craziest thing happen i was driving a totally different car my car felt like i had a SUPERCHArger!!! it was crazy never felt her wanting more power!!! is this odd or am i crazy??
in two days she performed better with regular then in one year with premium!! how can this be??? I use MOBIL...

I may be totally wrong but here goes...
Premium fuel sells in lower volumes so it tends to sit in the tanks at gas stations for longer periods of time and degrades or gets contaminated more. Regular fuel sells more and is replaced with a fresh supply more often. Try a different gas station that sells premium more cheaply.
It could also be the weather...colder, drier air gives more bang for the buck.

[B]I would guess you are noticing the improved performance with the cooler weather. Since the temp has dropped in NJ my I30 feels like a new car. Where do you live?
NYC but thats not the case because last week was colder than this week and i just noticed the change, i dont do this all the time but she understands am broke....
but this friday am taking her to shell so she can get all the fuel she wants!!!

[B]My Dad puts regular in his I35, whereas I only put premium in mine, and I swear his pulls harder than mine...
i think they recommend premium so the engine dont die and then they get away with fixing it...

It's very possible he's getting more power from regular then premium.
Keep this in mind, the higher the octane rating the more resistant the gas is to ignite.
A lower octane rating means the gas will ignite quicker. There's more of a change for Ping or engine knock to occur due to the air/fuel mixture igniting to early. But in some cases the engine may not experiance knock or ping, but benefit in performance a little due to the more volitile fuel.
DISCLAIMER: This does not mean that if you use regular fuel you will always gain HP. Nissan recommends you use high octane or premium fuel in our cars. The word recommend does not mean the same as the word must!

The optimal (max performance) ignition timing is set in the VQ for premium fuel. Even if you don't get detonation on regular, the burn rate will STILL be different (faster) than on premium, and this throws off the ignition timing. The peak force from the combustion will occur at a point before 90 degrees ATDC (where you want it at), and as a result the piston/rod will have less leverage against the crank and you'll have less overall power.
