anyone tried to fit two single din units into the factory trim?

I was wondering if anyone has or if it is possible to fit two single din units into the factory stereo trim that the Nissan GXE has? (ie a single din alpine deck with a single din lcd). I got mixed opinions about it (some say two single din units won't fit and vice-versa) so any advise would be awesome.

If i'm not mistaken the GXE vent trim is a single DIN + pocket configuration.

I suggest you invest in the Scosche kit. It's a 1+1 DIN wherein you can convert one of the DIN's into a pocket.

the pocket for the GXE is easily removed and can be replaced with another unit....all you have to do is remove the screws

I switched my pocket from the top to the bottom and put the radio at the top.....and when I got tired of that setup (too far to reach) I switched them back

Yes, I have 2 single DIN units in the stock GXE trim...A Pioneer head unit with a pioneer 6 disk changer...The fit is perfect and looks really good. Check out the pic:

awesome. That's what i had thought but people speculated that it wouldn't fit. your pioneer 930 is way too cool. Did you get the kit to download more images for it? if so, where did you get it at? I want to stick a pioneer 7300 in the other din.

How dod you install a head unit ? I can't fit the trim ring in the opening and without it looks odd with about 1-2mm gaps on each side of the face... I didn't like it enough to take out my pioneer and put a stock double din unit back in... somebody help ? do some units fit beter than others ?

From my experience with it, some headunits definitely fit better than others. On one job I saw, they actually had to drill new holes for the headunit to make the stereo fit better if worse comes to worse and you can't get it to fit right, I would suggest doing this. Just be careful you don't drill too deep and hit some electronics in the stereo
