my friend has i believe a 2000 bonneville ssei supercharged 240hp. he brags to me annoyingly that he can beat my 2k gle no mods in a race. looking at the car it is heavy and big and i dont know weather or not i can beat him. i do want to shut him up by beating him in a race cause he can get quite annoying about that damn car.. can i beat him in my max?
or is the bonneville faster?

0-60 7.5 1/4 15.8 for the bonneville, max 7.5 to 7.8 1/4 15.8 or so,close manualy shifting should get him ,on the highway you should beat him his car tops out at 128mph.

Those supercharged bonnevilles are pretty quick but also heavy. An auto Max could probably be win or be close. A stick can take it though.

Looks like UR racing a driver not the car. something that close on the street really depends on the driver. make sure U R low on fuel so the car don't weigh as much.

and if you don't beat him, at least you can drive by his place when his bonny is in the shop every month after 50K miles

Actually the latest test was 6.9 0-60 and 15.4 1/4 for the Bonneville. It will smoke a AUTO 2K, but a 5spd 2K will take it or should.....

well i've beaten a few GTP's with the same engine in a lighter car....so I would think you should do ok even with your automatic. just my 2 cents

You're correct....

The non-supercharged Bonneville runs 15.8.
The supercharged Bonneville runs 15.4.
I don't understand how its only 4/10ths quicker...then again the Supercharged 3.8L only makes about 20HP more...so i guess thats why.
A stock 2k Max auto should lose slightly...a 5-speed will definitely win...as long as the Max has a decent driver.
Good Luck.

If you dont drive the crap out of the 5 speed, it will be a very tight race with GTP. But, the Bonneville is heavier, so that will certainly help!

I have what seems to be some of the faster and quicker times in the 5 speed 5th gen Max and have made over 100 timed runs with it so I more or less have figured out how to "kick the mule". Ive had an encounter or two with a friends GTP, and from certain speeds (a roll from about 50 mph), they will flat leave a 5 speed Max in the gutter. From a standstill, if you launch right, you can beat a stock GTP. If you miss the launch, and the GTP hits it, youll never catch him.

If the GTP is modded in any way (like a smaller pulley), its over. Way too much torque.......

FWIW, stock GTPs seem to run high 14's low 15's down here. The ones with the pulleys hit low to mid 14's.

if you don't know what a 1/4 mile time is chances are you don't know how to race...i know that in sticks, it takes a good driver but you need to have a fairly good driver in an auto, too (doesn't take as much skill as a stick, don't get me wrong)...you have to get your launch right and if you are doing manual shifting, take care of that...and you gotta reach down and hit the blinker button once you are a couple car lenghts ahead...you should be able to take him but it will probably be close...i've heard gle isn't as fast as se because of different gearing...not sure though...i know my 2k se auto runs low 15s right now and i'm working on saving up some money for some nitrous so i can run 13s...hooray...alright, i'm done w/ that...chances are that your friend can't race either, since he has a bonneville...so i'm guessing he will not be able to get the 1/4 mile times they do in mags...he might start to pull on you at first but once you hit 60-80 you should start pulling on him and you won't stop until the race is over...just my 2/10s of a dime

Hehehehehehe...the old "hazards"...

I actually did that at the track once. Thats pretty rude, but I was racing a friend so no harm done.

MAXIMA VS GTP

I've never had any trouble with a GTP at any speed...rolling or dead start. Maybe the muffler was dragging on the ground slowing them down or something...

Bonniville is very heavy.....

IMO thats what screws it in the end!! my friends Mitsu GST destroyed one on the highway a few months ago!! I could see a 5sp Max having some fun with it too!!! auto will probably be close, but why not just race him?? thats how we all learn.................

YOu must be alot faster and quicker than me! Its always been a good race, on the track or the street.

What does your car run in the quarter?

GTP

it's always been a close race...but I've always come out on top. I've never run a timed 1/4 mile so I don't know what it is. It would be slow though since I live in colorado. I'm going to Las Vegas for new years though and I can't wait to be pimpin the strip in the Max. Should be a huge difference since up here I can only get a 0-60 in the mid 8's.

YOU NEED TO CATCH HIM ON THE HIGHWAY .TELL HIM TO PUT THE
GAS PEDAL WHERE HIS MOUTH IS.PUSH 125MPH , AND IF YOU STILL
SEE HIM . PUSH 135MPH! IF YOU LET HIM WIN. YOU WILL REGRET
IT FOR THE REST OF LIFE. ps, don't be reckless
