2K Auto mods Limited?

Just a lil disappointed that I lost to my brother's o2 Altima. Its still bone stock and its an auto.Mine's auto too. So far, I've got all the ususal bolt ons (Injen intake,Cattman Y-pipe,Greddy Cat-Back). Shouldn't all that mods make the VQ30 just as powerful as a stock VQ35's Altima's version? Is there anything else I can do to make it at lease as strong as vq35? Maybe I should just go and try to get a good deal on an 03 max. Love that 3.5 engine

you can try VB upgrade, trans cooler, lighter rims and tires, cams, RT Cat. i think with all this you should beat the altima..

i wouldn't necesarrily say it's a waste of money. A person can only gain so much from all bolt ons on a auto maxima. Your MAX gain in hp to the wheels for an auto maxima is 190.. and that's already pushing it. Get a manual and you'll have that much to the wheels stock.. put on the same mods, and you might compete with the auto altima V6. Otherwise, one has to stay realistic.

Get the 03 Max. They're practically giving them away.

In the original post Maximus917 wondered if he should continue modding his VQ30 or get the 03 Max with 3.5. My advice was to get the 03 Max. They are selling below invoice. They are a great deal and if you take it easy on the options you can get one for a reasonable price.

Yeah, it's a waste to mod an auto.... Whatever chief, the max isn't super strong as an auto, but most cars clean up in drag with AT, my best friends z TT is proof enough of that and the SC and Turbo max autos are pretty damn fast in my book

If you're gonna buy a new car everytime someone beats you, then you might as well just skip the BS and buy a real sports car, or a bike.

If you think THAT was a waste of money, just wait until you try to get a trade-in on yours to a 2003!!!

That will redefine wasting money.

i did the same mods as you and i don't think its a waste ....our cars are deffinetly quicker with mods..i would rather spend a few hundred than loose thousands on a trade! just go buy a gsxr1000 and allways win!!!!!!

we just have to be realistic: it's a sedan, an auto... it will only go SO fast. Trying to mod your car with only bolt ons to beat another auto car with a bigger engine and more HP, around the same weight.... well you'll be in for disappointment.

If you want to beat him so bad, get a SC, they don't make them yet for the Alti, so even if he mods his car, you will still bet him

I have to agree with you. I have some bolt on mods and My car feels alot quicker with them. The only thing that is killing us 2k and 2k1 maximas is all that torqe everyone else has. But I felt pretty good when I kept up with a I35 the other night at 120! We both had it floored and it was a dead tie! I would have mention it sooner but it wasn't really a kill plus it was in the same family (car family)

well, supercharge an auto can be quite fun...but the down side is...the tranny! first, the tranny is too weak and even I have VB/cooler/, I am still babying it. I now drive more careful with my SC'ed auto than when I was NA.

second....to enjoy the full potential of SC...u need a manual tranny to keep ur engine at high RPM in order to get higher boost. Otherwise, with an auto tranny....u need a really small pulley (like Kevin's 2.87) or 3.125.

I would say nitrous will be more fun for an auto than SC...but either one of them will be enough to take ur brother's 3.5 Alty....
